Assistant Professor of Sociology (Full-time)

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has been dedicated to offering internationally benchmarked undergraduate and postgraduate programs and has become one of the region’s leading centers of academic excellence. We have a vibrant and cosmopolitan student population of around 6,000 students from over 60 nationalities enrolled in 32 undergraduate programs and 24 postgraduate programs, including our prestigious DBA. ADU is the only private higher education institution in the UAE and the region to receive international accreditation and institutional recognition from the “Western Association of Schools and Colleges: Senior College and University Commission – WSCUC”.

The College of Arts, Education and Social Sciences (CAESS) provides general education courses for all undergraduate students, with few select undergraduate programs and post graduate studies in the education field: BA in Mass Communication (Arabic and English), Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Teaching (English), MSc in Special Education, and MEd in Educational Leadership. CAESS also provides courses in areas of that are college requirement courses for UG students joining Engineering and Health Sciences programs.

Assistant Professor of Sociology (Full-time)

at the Department of Education and Social Sciences,

College of Arts, Education and Social Sciences (Abu Dhabi/Al Ain)

We are looking to recruit qualified and experienced academics in the field of Education for our General Education program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Teaching (in their specialization) the courses offered by the General Education program, in one or more campuses (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai).
  • Conduct regular course updates and assist in the development of new programs and courses.
  • Deliver professional development sessions and actively participate in departmental and college events.
  • Provide student consultation and mentoring.
  • Conduct academic research and publish academic papers annually in peer-reviewed academic journals.

Program Requirements

  • a completed Ph.D. in Sociology (from an accredited higher education institution), specializing in Sociology or Educational Sociology or closely related field.
  • 3 years (after PhD graduation) of academic experience at an accredited higher education institution in the relevant field
  • Knowledge of Blackboard Ultra, educational technology apps (knowledge of use of AI apps in education an advantage).
  • Active in research and academic research publishing (Scopus preferred, an advantage)
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Arabic)
