Job Description

The Assistant Manager - Distribution Center is a crucial role at the heart of our logistics operations. You will be responsible for supporting the Distribution Center Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our facility, ensuring that all processes are running smoothly and efficiently. Your primary focus will be to optimize the workflow within the center, manage staff performance, and ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to. This position requires a highly organized individual with strong leadership abilities and a keen eye for process improvement. As an Assistant Manager, you will be critical in achieving our company goals by ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment, maintaining high service levels, and optimizing resource utilization.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and workflows within the distribution center facility.
  • Assist the manager in scheduling and managing staff shifts and duties effectively.
  • Implement strategies to improve warehouse efficiency and productivity consistently.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with inventory management to avoid stockouts.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to by all staff.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain operational quality standards.
  • Facilitate training sessions and performance evaluations for warehouse staff.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Resolve issues related to order discrepancies, delivery delays, or staff conflicts promptly.
  • Maintain clear communication between the distribution center and other departments.
  • Participate in budget planning and control departmental expenses efficiently.
  • Implement inventory control measures to prevent loss and damage to goods.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in warehouse or distribution center management required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills are essential for this role.
  • Basic knowledge of logistics software and inventory management systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary for liaising with multiple stakeholders.
  • Health and safety management experience is an advantage in this position.
