The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in AgriTech at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The appointment will be within the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and is expected to begin in the upcoming academic year. Position Summary The successful candidate is expected to establish a competitive, externally funded research program integrating advanced agricultural technologies with sustainable crop production systems. Research areas may include precision agriculture, smart farming systems, agricultural robotics, artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in agriculture, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled farm management, remote sensing, digital phenotyping, and data-driven decision support systems. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service activities in the field of agricultural technology, with emphasis on innovative solutions for crop production relevant to arid and semi-arid environments. It is expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program including but not limited to precision irrigation and fertigation systems, UAV-based crop monitoring, smart greenhouse technologies, agricultural automation, sensor-based soil and plant health monitoring, climate-smart agriculture technologies, and digital agriculture platforms. Key Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural technology, precision agriculture, smart farming, and related disciplines.
Supervise MSc and PhD students.
Establish and maintain an internationally recognized research program.
Secure competitive external research funding.
Publish in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
Engage in community service and professional activities at departmental, college, and university levels.
Contribute to industry collaboration and outreach activities, particularly in areas relevant to national agricultural innovation and food security priorities.
Minimum Qualification
PhD in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Technology, Precision Agriculture, Biosystems Engineering, Digital Agriculture, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated research productivity in precision agriculture, smart farming systems, agricultural automation, remote sensing, AI applications in agriculture, digital agriculture, or related areas.
Evidence of effective teaching at the university level (for Associate Professor rank, a strong record of teaching, research, and service is required).
Strong communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualification
Experience working in arid or semi-arid agricultural systems.
Expertise in sustainable and climate-smart agricultural technologies.
Record of successful research grant acquisition.
Expected Skills
UAV-Based Crop Monitoring: Drone-based multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, crop health assessment, stress detection, yield estimation, and integration of UAV data into precision agriculture decision-support systems.
Smart AgriTech: Variable rate technologies, sensor-based nutrient and water management, site-specific crop management, and decision support systems.
Agricultural Robotics and Automation: Autonomous farm machinery, robotic harvesting, drone technologies, and smart greenhouse automation.
Digital Agriculture and AI Applications: Machine learning for yield prediction, disease detection, crop modelling, big data analytics, and farm management platforms.
Smart Water Management: IoT-based irrigation systems, water-use efficiency technologies, and climate-responsive irrigation strategies.
Remote Sensing and GIS in Agriculture: Satellite and UAV-based crop monitoring, spatial analysis, digital mapping, and geospatial data integration for farm management. Expertise in advanced methodologies such as sensor integration, embedded systems, cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, robotics, GIS, remote sensing, and digital twin technologies for agriculture is highly desirable.
