  • Lead lesson observations, coaching, professional development and performance support for Arabic and Islamic Studies staff.
  • Line manage members of the Arabic and Islamic Studies team as the department develops.
  • Support the recruitment, selection, induction and development of future Arabic and Islamic Studies teachers.
  • Develop schemes of work, resources, assessment approaches and departmental procedures appropriate to a new school.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Academics and wider leadership team to integrate Arabic and Islamic Studies effectively within the broader curriculum.
  • Support inspection readiness and provide accurate documentation and evidence relating to Arabic and Islamic Studies provision.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues and contribute actively to the wider life and ethos of Gordonstoun Jubail Island.
  • Help establish a strong departmental culture that combines academic excellence, high expectations and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language, Arabic Education or a relevant related discipline.
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Eligibility to meet relevant ADEK appointment and approval requirements.
  • At least 5 years of successful Arabic teaching experience.
  • At least 2 years of leadership, coordination or departmental responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of Arabic curriculum requirements and assessment.
  • Experience working within the UAE education environment, preferably with ADEK/MOE requirements.

  • Strong experience in curriculum planning, assessment, data analysis and raising student outcomes.
  • Experience coaching, developing and supporting teachers.
  • Native-level Arabic and strong professional English communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and stakeholder-management capability.

As a member of the founding team, the Senior Arabic Teacher will play an important role in building the Arabic and Islamic Studies provision from the ground up. This includes helping establish the curriculum, departmental systems, staffing structure, teaching standards and culture that will support the School as it expands.
