The Date Palm Unit is seeking a highly skilled person with field experience in the maintenance of date palm tissue culture plantlets. The person will be responsible for the hardening of tissue culture plantlets of date palm and their care, and maintenance, and to ensure optimal growth of plants to ready for sale. The candidate will have a strong background in date palm cultivation and is well experienced in pruning, fertilizing, pest control, and irrigation techniques. Hardening of the tissue culture date palm plantlets and its supervision. Supervise the preparation of the soil for date palms plantlets at different stages, fertilization, disease control, etc. Monitor the growth at different stages and carry out timely transplantation of plantlets with respect to different stages. Responsible for the irrigation system and managing the irrigation of plants at different stages. Schedule fertilization and irrigation cycles to ensure proper nutrition. Testing agricultural machinery and equipment to ensure adequate performance. Operation and maintenance of tools, control of weeds, plant and insect pests. Identify and address any signs of disease, pest infestation, and nutrient deficiencies. Develop pest control strategies to prevent and minimize damage to the date palm trees. Coordinate with other team members to schedule and execute planting, re-planting, and transplanting activities. Provide training and guidance to other team members on date palm tree care and maintenance. Checking the growing conditions of date palms in greenhouses and providing timely instructions to the farmers.

Minimum Qualification

At Least Bachelors degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field. Experience in hardening and maintenance of the tissue culture date palm plants Proven experience in date palm cultivation and maintenance practices, such as pruning, fertilization, irrigation, and identification of nutrient deficiencies and pests and their control. Experience in maintaining and operating agriculture tools Experience in training and guiding other team members in date palm tree care and maintenance. Good physical stamina and ability to work hard. Good communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualification

At Least Bachelors degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field.

Expected Skills

Assuring the successful hardening of the tissue culture plants of date palm. Maintenance of accurate data on the plantlets hardening: varieties, survival rate, etc. Timely transplanting of date saplings to different-sized pots with respect to the growth of the plants. Managing fertilization, irrigation, and cultivation practices of plants at different stages. Maintain the record of fertilization and pest/disease control with details. Record and maintain the data of the plants at different stages and provide when requested. Identification and collection of offshoots for the tissue culture. Training the farmers when required. Reporting problems related to work.
