POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

Purpose

The Advanced Inspection Technologies Senior Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and deploying inspection and metrology solutions during NPI and FAI phases for Powertech propulsion programs, including turbofan, microjet, and piston engines.

The role owns hands-on inspection engineering activities through FAI approval and production release, supporting supplier inspection readiness and incoming inspection definition. The Senior Engineer works closely with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, EPI, suppliers, and equipment vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection Method Development & Validation

  • Develop and validate inspection methods and measurement strategies for complex propulsion components and assemblies.
  • Program, validate, and optimize inspection routines using CMM and advanced measurement systems.
  • Support deployment of advanced inspection technologies including optical, laser scanning, CT, and in-process measurement.

NPI, FAI Execution

  • Execute inspection activities during NPI from prototype through FAI approval.
  • Prepare, review, and support FAI packages, inspection reports, and capability studies.
  • Support industrial qualification and inspection capability validation prior to production release.

Design for Inspectability Support

  • Support design teams in defining inspectable geometries, datum structures, and tolerances.
  • Participate in design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and trade studies.
  • Identify inspection risks and support mitigation actions early in development.

Supplier & Incoming Inspection Support

  • Support supplier inspection readiness during NPI, including review of supplier inspection plans and FAI submissions.
  • Support resolution of supplier inspection issues during development and early ramp-up.
  • Support definition and validation of incoming inspection methods and sampling strategies.

Inspection Documentation & Handover

  • Develop and validate inspection work instructions, control plans, and inspection strategies to support FAI approval and production release.
  • Ensure inspection documentation is approved and formally transferred to EPI Quality prior to serial production.
  • Provide technical support for inspection system handover and optimization.

Technical Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a technical authority in inspection and metrology within the team.
  • Support standardization, best-practice development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support capability development within the department.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Metrology Engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience in aerospace inspection, metrology, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CMM programming, GD&T application, and inspection planning.
  • Experience supporting NPI, FAI, and industrial qualification activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a concurrent engineering and supplier-facing environment.
