Accounting Manager

The Role

The global asset manager is hiring an Accounting Manager to establish and manage accounting processes and controls that align with IFRS standards and Sharia principles. The role sits within a Sharia-compliant digital banking business and involves both operational accounting and building foundational infrastructure for a growing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures that adhere to Sharia principles and IFRS standards
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, and reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure timely internal and external reporting, including regulatory filings and audits
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and technology teams to support new product launches and process improvements
• Lead and mentor a growing accounting team
• Identify and mitigate financial risks and maintain internal controls
  
  

First 60 Days

• Assess and document current accounting processes and recommend improvements
• Develop and roll out accounting policies and internal controls suited to the business model
• Deliver accurate first-month financial statements on time
• Establish a roadmap for automation and digital transformation of accounting workflows
• Build working relationships with product, compliance, and technology teams
  
  

Required

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience managing accounting functions within a regulated financial services environment
• Solid knowledge of IFRS and/or other international accounting standards
• Experience designing and implementing accounting processes, controls, and reporting frameworks
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across departments
• Commitment to ethical conduct consistent with the organisation's mission and values
  
  

Preferred

• Experience in Sharia-compliant finance or Islamic banking
• Familiarity with accounting for digital assets or fintech products
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CA
• Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment
• Knowledge of Zakat management or halal investing practices
