Job Description

The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in an organization by overseeing financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reports. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills to manage the accounting department effectively. The Accounting Manager is responsible for establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with the finance team to ensure compliance with standard accounting principles and regulatory requirements. An ability to lead a team with strategic insight and efficiency is crucial, as well as maintaining excellent communication skills for interdepartmental collaboration and reporting to executive management.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles across the organization.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits, providing the necessary information to external auditors.
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting annual goals, and providing day-to-day guidance.
  • Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial status to management.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions to ensure financial accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts.
  • Monitor daily operations and analyze accounting data, to produce financial reports and statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations by keeping abreast of legislative changes and advising management accordingly.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Lead and participate in special projects, as required, that impact the organization financially.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand business developments and help inform financial decision-making processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Proven experience with auditing and regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management concepts.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills are a must.
  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
