Job Summary
As an A/C Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems throughout the hotel. The role ensures that all HVAC equipment operates efficiently and reliably, providing a safe, comfortable, and pleasant environment for guests and colleagues while complying with company policies, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Install, inspect, service, maintain, and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems throughout the hotel.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on split AC units, package units, VRF/VRV systems, fan coil units, air handling units, exhaust fans, ventilation systems, and other HVAC equipment.
Diagnose faults and carry out necessary repairs to ensure minimal downtime and maximum equipment reliability.
Respond promptly to guest and hotel department maintenance requests, as well as emergency HVAC breakdowns.
Carry out regular inspections of HVAC systems in guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, offices, restaurants, kitchens, and other hotel facilities.
Clean and maintain indoor and outdoor AC units, filters, evaporator and condenser coils, drain lines, and ventilation systems.
Check refrigerant levels, identify refrigerant leaks, and carry out refrigerant charging and recovery in accordance with environmental regulations.
Monitor the performance and efficiency of HVAC equipment and report any abnormalities or potential equipment failures to the Engineering Supervisor.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, preventive maintenance activities, repairs, equipment breakdowns, and replacement of parts.
Coordinate with the Engineering Storekeeper and Engineering team to ensure the availability of required spare parts, tools, and materials.
Identify equipment requiring major repair, replacement, or specialist attention and report recommendations to the Engineering Supervisor.
Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with local regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and company health, safety, and environmental standards.
Practice proper handling, storage, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants and other HVAC-related materials to minimize environmental impact.
Support other Engineering and maintenance activities within the hotel as assigned.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
Ensure guest comfort and satisfaction by completing maintenance requests efficiently and minimizing disruption to hotel operations.
Actively participate in the hotel's energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
Suggest cost-saving and energy-efficient solutions to improve the hotel's HVAC operations.
Qualifications
Certificate or Diploma from a recognized technical or vocational institute in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, HVAC, or a related field.
Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in HVAC maintenance, preferably within a hotel, resort, commercial building, or facility management environment.
Sound knowledge of air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and HVAC systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
Experience with VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, FCUs, and other commercial HVAC systems is an advantage.
Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems related to HVAC equipment.
Familiarity with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Knowledge of refrigerant handling and environmental requirements.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to maintenance emergencies.
Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Customer-focused attitude with the ability to respond professionally to guest requests and concerns.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays according to hotel operational requirements.
