About The Role

As a Veterinary Technician at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive veterinary care to a diverse animal population, including mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates. You will actively support the regional marine life rescue and rehabilitation program while upholding SeaWorld’s high animal welfare standards. This dynamic role involves assisting in veterinary treatments, emergency cases, and research initiatives, ensuring optimal health and well-being for all animals. Your contributions will extend to educating colleagues and guests on health, welfare, and husbandry practices, while also participating in fieldwork for rescues and research. By maintaining medical facilities, managing supplies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will drive advancements in marine animal health science and contribute to impactful conservation efforts.

What Youll Do

Animal Health

• Assist veterinarians in performing treatments and procedures across all species in SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s collection.
• Safely restrain patients for veterinary procedures and coordinate medical protocols under leadership guidance.
• Administer injections and oral medications in strict adherence to hospital policies.
• Monitor animal behavior and health conditions, documenting findings and reporting to veterinary and management teams.
• Provide critical support during emergency veterinary cases and maintain medical areas, kennels, and equipment.
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories, ensuring accurate tracking and availability.
• Participate in the rehabilitation of rescued wildlife, including marine mammals, avian species, reptiles, and marine life.
• Assist with anesthetic procedures, radiology, sample collection, and diagnostic testing while maintaining veterinary machinery.
• Uphold sterilization protocols for surgical kits and instruments using autoclave systems.
• Educate animal care teams, leadership, and guests on health, welfare, and husbandry best practices.
• Support animal health research projects, preparing data for presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
• Collaborate with nutritional, diagnostic, and animal care teams to ensure holistic animal health management.
• Maintain comprehensive animal records in Tracks Software or other data systems.
• Engage in fieldwork for rescues, health assessments, and research as needed.
• Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, to meet operational demands.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs (20kg), walking, standing, and repetitive motions.
• Execute additional duties as assigned to support veterinary and animal care operations.
  
  

What Were Looking For

Essential

• Veterinary Nursing Diploma or Degree in a related field, or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to obtain a license or certification for veterinary nursing technician in the UAE.
• At least 2 years of proven experience as a veterinary nursing technician in a hospital setting.
• Excellent English communication skills and strong teamwork abilities.
• Flexibility to adapt quickly to evolving needs of the animal collection.
• Proficiency in current computer applications, including MS Office, and basic mathematical skills.
  
  

Desirable

• Board eligibility, membership, or Diplomat status in a recognized veterinary statutory/professional body.
• Experience with professional zoo/aquarium communities and non-domestic species.
• Prior experience with data entry, hematology/reproductive analyzers, and equipment maintenance schedules.
