Amity International School, Abu Dhabi is seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and highly motivated School Librarian to join our dynamic learning support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing comprehensive library services that support our British Curriculum and promote a love of reading and research across all year groups. Experience with digital literacy programs and maker space coordination would be advantageous but not essential. The ability to support academic research skills up to and including GCSE and A Level would also be highly valued.

Key Requirements (ADEK Compliant)

  • Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Library Science, Information Science, Education, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a school library or educational setting
  • Valid UAE residence visa or eligibility to obtain one

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience in developing age-appropriate library programs for students aged 3-18
  • Knowledge of contemporary library management systems and digital resources
  • Experience with collection development and budget management
  • Understanding of information literacy curriculum design and delivery
  • Strong knowledge of childrens and young adult literature
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Proficiency in English

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with British Curriculum schools
  • Additional language skills (particularly Arabic or other languages common in the UAE)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the schools printed and digital library collections
  • Deliver information literacy skills across all year groups
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to support curriculum-based research projects
  • Coordinate reading promotion programs and literacy initiatives
  • Maintain library management systems and ensure accurate cataloguing
  • Supervise library support staff and student library assistants
  • Organize author visits, book fairs, and literary events
  • Support students independent research skills for GCSE and A Level coursework
  • Ensure library policies align with ADEK guidelines and international best practices

ADEK Compliance Statement

  • This position is subject to ADEK (Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge) regulations. The successful candidate must:
  • Undergo ADEK-mandated background checks and medical examinations
  • Comply with all UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK professional standards

All Applicants Will Be Required To

  • Provide attested/apostilled copies of all educational certificates
  • Supply a minimum of two professional references, at least one of which should be from the Head Teacher/Principal of the most recent school
  • Complete ADEK medical fitness examination upon appointment
  • Provide proof of professional registration where applicable
