Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a faculty position. Qualified candidates at all levels will be considered at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University. The Department of Government and Society at UAEU invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the various fields of Political Science; Comparative Politics, Political Thought/Theory, International Political Economy, and International Relations. A strong and continuous record of research published in peer-reviewed journals, a high h-index and citation index in Scopus and Google Scholar, and fluency in English. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate level thesis, as well as teaching in civilian and military academic institutions (as part of UAEU faculty). The Candidates will also be also required to contribute effectively to the development of the department, serve the college, the UAE university and broader UAE community.

Minimum Qualification

Ph.D. in Political Science (and relevant fields) from an accredited and reputable university granted through a full-time doctoral study. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must. Academic administrative and professional experience is a plus. Fluency in English is required and additional languages like Arabic is preferred.

Preferred Qualification

Ph.D. in Political Science from an accredited and reputable university granted through a full-time doctoral study. Strong and continuous record of publishing research in Scopus-indexed journals and strong citation index in Scopus. Experience in teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses and supervising graduate students’ research and theses. Strong theoretical knowledge and applied skills in teaching and research in the field and excellent command of writing, reading and speaking in the English language (preferably proficient in both Arabic & English). Expertise in program development, curriculum design and development with high-quality service record on the level of academic department, university and community.
