Job Description

The Department of Special and Gifted Education within the College of Education at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Instructor in Special and Gifted Education. The successful candidate is expected to assume the position in Fall 2027. Qualified candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, practical instruction, student support, and the effective integration of specialized educational assessment tools and assistive technologies into undergraduate education. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of academic courses while supporting the development, coordination, and effective utilization of the Special Education Laboratory as an integral component of teaching, practical training, professional development, and community engagement. The position's workload will be shared between teaching duties and responsibilities related to the Special Education Laboratory, in accordance with departmental needs and university policies and regulations.

Minimum Qualification

• A master’s degree in Special Education, Gifted Education, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Special and Gifted Education.
• Relevant practical experience in Special Education and working with individuals with disabilities in educational settings.
• Established professional networks with special education centers, schools, and relevant educational institutions.
• Knowledge of specialized assessment tools, assistive technologies, and their applications in Special Education.
• Ability to deliver practical training and integrate laboratory resources into teaching and learning.
• Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills to effectively manage teaching and laboratory responsibilities.
• Proficiency in English.
  
  

Preferred Qualification

• A doctoral degree in Special Education, Gifted Education, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Excellent teaching record at the university level.
• Experience in the administration, scoring, interpretation, and educational application of standardized assessment instruments, within relevant professional qualification requirements.
• Experience in laboratory-based teaching, practical training, or the coordination of educational laboratories.
• Experience integrating assistive technologies and specialized educational assessment tools into undergraduate teaching.
• Experience organizing professional development workshops, educational events, and community engagement activities.
• Familiarity with the UAE education system and educational practices.
• Proficiency in both Arabic and English for teaching purposes is a plus.
