The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applicants for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. We seek an outstanding candidate with demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and academic services. Applicants should have expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology or closely related disciplines, with the potential to contribute to the department’s research and teaching missions. Applicants with expertise in, but not limited to, the following areas are encouraged to apply: biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, epigenetics, molecular mechanisms of diseases (e.g., cancer, metabolic, and neurological disorders), stem cell biology, infectious diseases, systems & synthetic biology, computational biology and chemistry. Interdisciplinary and translational research aligned with biomedical applications is particularly encouraged. Preference will be given to candidates with strong expertise in bioinformatics and computational approaches to disease modeling, including the integration of multi-omics datasets and the development of computational and AI-driven frameworks to investigate complex disease biology and other aspects of molecular and cell biology. The successful candidate must demonstrate an independent, externally funded research program, leading to impactful, high rankings peer-reviewed publications. The candidate should also demonstrate skills in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in topics related to biochemistry and molecular biology and be willing to contribute to curriculum development and program innovation. Candidates should also provide evidence of successful advising and supervision of graduate and/or undergraduate students. The successful candidate should be willing to interact closely with departmental colleagues and collaborate to strengthen research and academic programs of the department. He/she will be also required to serve in the department, college, and university committees, as appointed.

Minimum Qualification

PhD in Biomedical Sciences or a closely related discipline, including computational biology, bioinformatics, or related computational fields, and a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses.

Preferred Qualification

At least five years of postdoctoral research experience, or a minimum of two years of experience as an Assistant Professor following completion of a PhD, with a strong publication record in reputable international journals and evidence of, or strong potential for, securing research funding. Experience in supervising undergraduate and/or graduate students is required, as well as familiarity with modern teaching modalities, such as problem-based and team-based learning (PBL/TBL) or flipped classrooms. Candidates should demonstrate the use of technology-enhanced teaching methods and effective student assessment strategies. Expertise in biostatistics, data analysis, or research methodologies is considered an advantage. The successful candidate is expected to initiate and sustain both internally and externally funded research in their area of expertise and to publish findings in reputable international journals.

Expected Skills

 At least 2-3 years of experience in an academic or research institution, with a demonstrated publication record in high-impact journalsThe candidate should demonstrate experience in: Purification of recombinant proteins using fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) systems with multiple chromatographic techniques, including affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography. Optimized purification workflows to improve protein yield, purity, and stability for downstream biochemical & structural studies. Size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) for protein polishing, aggregation analysis, and molecular weight estimation. Performing and troubleshooting biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to PCR, RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, immunocytochemistry, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA Preparation and purification of viral vectors for gene delivery. Documentation of experimental procedures, purification results, and batch records in laboratory notebooks and electronic records.The candidate should have: Qualitative and quantitative research knowledge and experience Statistical knowledge and experience  Good interpersonal and communication skills Strong organizational and administration skills Ability to independently design and execute experiments, interpret data, and identify appropriate follow-up strategies.  Time management and self-management skills Be comfortable working with small animals
