We are looking for the right person to join the GAC Marine team as an IT Specialist. Could it be you?
If appointed, you will support day-to-day IT operations across GAC Marine’s office and vessels, ensuring stable systems, effective user support, and enabling the IT function to focus on higher value digital, operational technology, and smart vessel initiatives.
The Job
Operational IT Support – Deliver first- and second-line technical assistance to both office and vessel users. Manage routine service desk inquiries, incidents, and user requests while ensuring a smooth IT onboarding and offboarding experience for employees. Maintain consistent service quality and ensure timely resolution of all support issues.
Business Applications and Enterprise Resource Planning Support – Provide end‑user assistance for business applications and Enterprise Resource Planning systems, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve system issues efficiently. Manage user access, perform basic troubleshooting, and respond to functional inquiries to support optimal system utilization.
Vessel Systems and Communications – Act as the primary IT point of contact for vessel systems and onboard technologies. Coordinate all matters related to vessel connectivity and communication infrastructure. Support the deployment, maintenance, and standardization of IT systems across the fleet, and contribute to enhancing the adoption of digital and smart technologies onboard vessels.
IT Standards, Knowledge, and Enablement – Support the development, organisation, and continual improvement of the Information Technology Service Management knowledge base to strengthen internal knowledge sharing. Promote self‑service by documenting recurring issues, solutions, and user guides. Contribute to digital literacy initiatives for both office staff and crew to enhance system adoption and competency. Assist in maintaining IT processes and documentation to ensure alignment with ISO requirements and internal IT standards.
Process Optimization & Service Support – Identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement to reduce operational workload and enhance service efficiency. Provide support to the IT Manager during escalations and assist with resolving complex technical matters when required. Contribute to the streamlining and refinement of internal IT processes and workflows to improve overall service delivery.
Job Requirements
What we’re looking for?
Successful track record in implementing large scale IT related change programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Relevant certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate / Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert / Information Technology Infrastructure Library, etc.) will be considered a plus.
Exposure to business applications and Enterprise Resource Planning environments.
Familiarity with maritime software systems and applications.
3-5 years of IT experience in helpdesk and network support.
