Weatherford is hiring a Freight Specialist in Abu Dhabi. The Freight Specialist is responsible for the continuous monitoring and management of all logistics movements under the supervision of the Logistics Control Tower.
The role involves overseeing cargo movements, identifying deviations, managing exceptions, and contracting exceptional or out-of-contract shipments to ensure seamless logistics operations.
Requirements
The Freight Specialist serves as the primary point of escalation for logistics teams when deviations, urgent shipment requirements, or exceptional cargo movement issues arise. This includes:
Providing real-time guidance and support for critical or delayed shipments.
Liaising with senior logistics leadership to resolve complex or high-impact logistics challenges.
Coordinating with HSE, TCC, and Finance when issues affect compliance, safety, or cost.
Ensuring that escalated matters are tracked, resolved, and documented to prevent recurrence.
Roles & Responsibilities
Continuously monitor the status and performance of cargo movements, promptly identifying and investigating any deviations.
Perform real-time tracking and active monitoring of critical shipments, including special commodities such as dual-use items, hazardous materials (hazmat), and project-specific cargo.
Implement proactive strategies and corrective measures promptly, accompanied by clear and timely communication to relevant stakeholders upon early detection of potential deviations.
Assume accountability for managing and contracting exceptional and out-of-contract cargo movements, ensuring optimal cost-efficiency and compliance.
Document, capture, and report all instances of additional costs ("red money") incurred due to deviations, exceptions, or extraordinary circumstances.
Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Proven experience in logistics, freight management, or supply chain operations.
Strong proficiency in real-time logistics tracking systems and cargo management software.
Knowledge of compliance regulations related to hazardous materials, dual-use commodities, and international logistics.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and deviations.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of maintaining positive and effective working relationships across diverse teams.
Familiarity with financial and cost-management aspects of logistics operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Experience in the Freight Forwarding Companies.
Professional certifications in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CIPS).
Experience with Trade Compliance Control (TCC) processes and international trade regulations.
Prior experience in handling high-value, sensitive, or hazardous cargo.
Primarily office-based with regular use of logistics monitoring tools and software. May require occasional travel to logistics hubs or operational sites.
