The Fabricator plays a crucial role in the Fabrication area, responsible for transforming raw materials into finished components with precision and efficiency. A keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of fabrication techniques and product specifications are essential. Mastery in interpreting Route Sheets and technical drawings is vital, along with a clear grasp of the full fabrication process from material preparation to final assembly.
Close coordination with Engineering is required to ensure accurate interpretation of Bills of Materials, enabling timely material issuance from Stores or supporting Planning Engineers with relevant data for procurement. A thorough understanding of job-specific specifications and quality standards is fundamental to delivering high-quality outputs that meet project requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Understand and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
Select appropriate steel materials based on job specifications and Route sheets & Drawings.
Measure, cut, and shape steel using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as saws, shears, and torches.
Assemble fabricated parts into final products or subassemblies
Inspect finished products for accuracy, structural integrity, and compliance with specifications.
Perform corrective actions when defects or deviations are identified.
Operate fabrication machinery such as press brakes, rollers, and welding equipment.
Conduct routine maintenance and ensure tools and machines are in good working condition with the support of Maintenance department.
Lead the team with safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Comply with company policies and industry standards for fabrication and workplace safety.
Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Report progress, issues, and material requirements to relevant departments
Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
Assist in updating route sheets and fabrication logs as needed
Product Knowledge for API & ANSI standards where Skids, stands, Piping & Structural welding.
Request items from stores using the iFlight
Ensure clear and proper communication with Planning Engineers, Workshop Coordinator, Quality Teams and 3rd Party Companies providing Review of Projects
Support Workshop coordinator in providing PMR Updates to Planning Engineers
Work with Planning Engineers to build proper project timelines to ensure correct timing of parts and tools throughout the project
Support CSR Group for Technical Clarification with Clients for jobs both starting and ongoing
Provide Line Management to Charge Hands and Workshop Coordinator, processing of Holidays, Sick Leave, etc etc.
All other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Knowledge
ANSI, ASME, AWS, ISO, EN, IS, API, and BS
AWS D1.1 - Structural Welding Code – Steel
AWS D1.3 -Structural Welding Code – Sheet Steel
ASME Section IX- Welding and Brazing Qualifications
ASME B31.1- Power Piping
ASME B31.3- Process Piping
ISO standards based on structural welding.
Must have ability to handle technical data from multiple sources.
Good understanding of planning and logistic methodologies.
Good communication skills in English language, both verbal and written.
Computer Skills (Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook).
Experience
Similar Experience in the field.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Education Requirements
Minimum requires ITI / Diploma preferrable
Physical Requirements
Proactive and flexible around work priorities
Accurate in Measurements and material identification.
Good awareness of safety and HSE policies.
A team player, and take responsibility for own work environment and that of others.
A good problem solver.
