Job Description

A Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in the financial department, ensuring that the company's financial health is accurately reported and transparent. This position demands a high level of expertise in accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to lead and supervise junior accounting staff. The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements, managing accounts, and performing audits, all while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. Attention to detail and the ability to analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations are key components of this role. This position is best suited for someone who enjoys solving complex financial problems and who has a keen eye for detail.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with precision.
  • Manage and oversee accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions within designated systems and ledgers.
  • Compile and present detailed budgets and financial forecasts to executive management.
  • Conduct financial analysis for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and process improvement.
  • Oversee internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance financial controls and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with departments to support budget preparation and financial planning efforts.
  • Analyze financial discrepancies and frauds and devise corrective measures promptly.
  • Maintain current knowledge of accounting and financial legislation and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements consistently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience within a corporate setting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or similar professional accounting certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle Financials.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for effective reporting.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
