Job Description

As a Payroll Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. This position requires a meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of payroll systems and regulations. You will be responsible for collecting, verifying, and processing time-sheets for employees, as well as maintaining and updating payroll records. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skills, and will be experienced in managing confidentiality in handling sensitive pay data. A strong knowledge of compensation and benefits packages, payroll taxation, and federal and state laws is crucial. You will be the point of contact for payroll-related queries, and you will work closely with HR and finance teams to deliver high-quality payroll services.


Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees on a regular schedule in an accurate manner.
  • Ensure compliance with current government regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions in databases.
  • Collaborate closely with the HR department to manage employee records.
  • Calculate bonuses and overtime earnings based on employee timesheets and records.
  • Evaluate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll issues promptly.
  • Prepare accurate reports and forecasts for senior management on payroll expenses.
  • Continually review and improve payroll policies and systems for efficiency.
  • Understand and keep up to date with internal payroll data system updates.
  • Audit the payroll system to verify all payments and deductions are legitimate.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reconciliation reports.
  • Address employee concerns and questions related to their payroll matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working as a payroll officer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of common payroll software and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent understanding of payroll regulations and tax calculations needed.
  • Proven ability to handle and maintain confidential financial information securely.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for this role.
