Job Description

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that workplace activities comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This specialized role requires a deep understanding of the principles and regulations surrounding occupational health, workplace safety, and environmental protection. HSE Specialists are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment, prevent workplace accidents, and promote a culture of safety within the organization. They work closely with various departments to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions. Additionally, HSE Specialists are involved in training staff on safety practices, conducting audits and inspections, and preparing reports to ensure compliance with governmental and industry standards.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and emergency response plans.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with management to develop HSE objectives and identify key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for employees to ensure awareness and compliance.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide guidance and leadership on safety policies to all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HSE regulations and standards.
  • Utilize data analysis to identify trends and develop strategies for continual safety improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
  • Review and recommend safety equipment and PPE for use by employees in different operations.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and drills to enhance preparedness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar HSE specialist role.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental protection laws.
  • Excellent communication and training skills to engage diverse teams effectively.
  • Certification in HSE practices such as CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze data and produce detailed safety reports proficiently.
  • Proven experience in conducting safety audits and implementing corrective measures.
