Job Description

As a Commis, you play a critical role in the culinary team by supporting chefs and other kitchen staff in food preparation and other operational tasks. This entry-level position is essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of the kitchen and the delivery of quality culinary services. In this position, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in various aspects of the kitchen environment, from preparing ingredients and cooking meals to maintaining cleanliness and adhering to health standards. Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs in meal preparation by providing necessary ingredients and tools.
  • Prepare and measure ingredients as directed by senior kitchen staff.
  • Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistent quality of food items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the kitchen at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of necessary kitchen supplies.
  • Write and digitize food orders for timely and accurate preparation.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and standards.
  • Help in plating and garnishing dishes according to presentation standards.
  • Participate in training sessions to learn new cooking techniques and skills.
  • Respond to customer comments and questions about meal ingredients and preparation.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification required.
  • Minimum of six months experience in a kitchen or culinary environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment.
  • Excellent multitasking skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely and implement changes as needed.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
