Job Description

As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that workplace environments are safe, healthy, and compliant with regulations. This position requires a vigilant and proactive approach to identify potential hazards, implement safety protocols, and promote a culture of safety among all employees. You will work collaboratively with management, staff, and regulatory bodies to develop and enforce effective health and safety policies and practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and committed to fostering a safe working environment for everyone. This role is essential in preventing accidents and maintaining the physical and emotional well-being of all employees.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential workplace hazards and risks.
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies in accordance with legal standards.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training and guidance on health and safety protocols to all employees.
  • Collaborate with management to integrate safety measures into company operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety strategies and programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities.
  • Conduct emergency drills and develop emergency preparedness plans.
  • Advise on personal protective equipment and enforce its correct use by employees.
  • Liaise with external bodies, such as health and safety consultants and inspectors.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety awareness across the entire organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in a health and safety role.
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective training delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to solve problems proactively.
  • Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP) or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize safety initiatives effectively.
