Software Engineer - Department of Computer Science
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated
Software Engineer to design and develop a
state-of-the-art scalable infrastructure for digital narratives.
This work is in connection with research on Digital Narratives (ELIAS) at the Pioneer Centre for AI in Copenhagen.
Place of employment
Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence (P1) at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen, located in the Observatory, Øster Voldgade 3.

Subject
The project involves developing an annotation frontend platform for social media narratives, alongside a backend ontology database.
Details
The candidate will be responsible for developing a software infrastructure constituting three components:
- Annotator’s view: a website (and app) for data collection and annotation.
- Researcher’s view: a dashboard for data aggregation and monitoring.
- Backend: a fast robust safe database with flexible ontologies.

Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with following competencies and experience:
- Master’s Degree in digital humanities with demonstrated computer engineering skills. or
- Master’s Degree in computer science or engineering with demonstrated interest in digital humanities.
- General Interests: Web/Platform Design, Narrative Research, Deep Learning, Academic thinking.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 1 year.
The starting date 1 September 2026 or after agreement.
The employment will be either in accordance with the Collective Agreement concerning Academics in the state sector concluded between the Danish Ministry of Finance and Akademikerne (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experience and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
Or in accordance the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance, The Confederation of Teachers Unions and CO10 – The Danish confederation of public employees of 2010 (LC/CO10 Collective Agreement) and by the Professional Agreement for IT Staff (PROSA) in government service.
The employment will be in salary group 2, and the salary step is based on experience, and there will be an opportunity to negotiate a salary supplement.The employer will pay an additional 16.68 % to your pension fund.
