Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications and Public Affairs, the Coordinator, Communications and Public Affairs will support the league’s communications and public affairs department in every facet of its operations, including writing and/or editing media releases, event support, media accreditation and other projects as needed.

The successful candidate is an organized and creative individual with an understanding of corporate communications, a keen eye for detail and a strong desire to learn. They will work collaboratively across the organization and the broader CFL ecosystem to support the development of communications content and projects that help drive the league’s strategic vision. They will excel at researching, drafting and reviewing communications materials.

Key Responsbilities

  • Lead the Grey Cup media accreditation process
  • Compile and distribute daily news clippings
  • Assist with research and data-collection for weekly communications materials
  • Contribute to the writing and editing of media releases and advisories, as well as other communications materials
  • Provide support on various communications, public relations and media relations projects
  • Provide on-site support for major events, including the Grey Cup
  • May include assistance on game-nights and/or events outside of typical work hours.
  • Other tasks, duties or projects as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in journalism, public relations, communications or related field, or a minimum of two years of combined education and experience is required.
  • Bilingual (French/English) is an asset.
  • Strong written, editing and proof-reading skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy is required.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and the ability to reprioritize tasks, if needed.
  • Knowledge of the CFL and Canadian football is an asset.
  • Experience in brand and reputation management is an asset.
  • A strong interest in a career in sports or digital content is an asset.

Expected Compensation

The expected compensation range for this position is $40,000 - $50,000, which includes base pay plus bonuses and variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position and should serve simply as a guide. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors such as candidate experience, skills, budget, location.

Other Considerations

Hybrid Model: The incumbent will be required to attend the office in accordance with the CFL Hybrid Work Policy. In addition, you are required to attend meetings and other business events at the office or other venues as business needs dictate.

Work Schedule: Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.

Travel: As required.
