The principal objective of this position is to provide expert level support for the EMEA Region UNIX environment. Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support ensuring full availability of the environment during production hours. The engineer will play an active role on all Safety & Trust initiatives as well as day-to-day support activities, administration and all projects associated with LINUX infrastructures and their associated applications. Expected to establish and maintain the organizations technical standards, policies, and procedures, collect, monitor, and analyze systems performance data and troubleshoot LINUX servers when applicable. Due to a large number of assets to manage, being able to automate the BAU tasks is a key point. Vulnerability and obsolescence remediation, proactive improvements and action plan for incidents are part of the day to day of this position.
Responsibilities
This role is for a technical support position for Asia Pacific region. The identified candidate will be responsible for supporting projects/ services, particularly on In Place Upgrade and Tech refresh projects. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the quality of ITP services remains consistently high, that operating policies are developed or are strictly followed, and adhere to all IT security policies to maintain system integrity and quality.
Provide 24/7/365 primary support for all RedHat Linux, Centos, Ubuntu & AIX servers.
Proactively monitor all UNIX systems utilizing BNP Paribas standard tools.
Designing and implementing solutions, using Git and Veritas Cluster & Volume manager
Management of SAN and NAS at server side
Administrating both volume managers, Veritas and LVM
Maintaining and adapting the configuration of server software and system components lifecycle Management.
Leverages Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform whenever and wherever possible (or other automation skills valuable like Puppet for developing and maintaining automation scripts)
Maintaining and monitoring the infrastructure using different tools
Tickets resolution through incidents, problems and different requests from the clients or other infrastructure teams
Troubleshooting, co-ordination with third party suppliers and vendors as well as with the central IT department of the customer.
Contingency planning, environment planning, configuration management and other relevant tasks related to the role. Support Disaster Recovery Test, Live-play and Business Continuity activities
Maintaining the relevant documents/manuals describing the system and its infrastructure.
Escalating incidents internally or to 3rd party partners when required.
Participating, on a punctual basis, on specific projects related to your specialty.
Liaise with application developers to gather requirements, design, and deploy standard systems, which clearly differentiate between Production, DR, Test and Development.
Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development team and Equity business to make corrections and mitigate risks.
Ensure that all systems are backed up according to the business requirements and notify the data owners when there are failures.
Ensure optimal resilience of deployed systems; and meet all disaster recovery requirements specified by the business.
Maintain top-notch technical skills and business knowledge through proactive self-learning in addition to any formal instructor-led training provided by BNP Paribas.

Must have At least 10+ years of technical experience in operating system (OS):
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x / 8.x/ 9.x
Ubuntu 16.x / 18.x / 20.x / 22.x
In Place Upgrade experience
Veritas & OpenSVC Cluster Skills
Patching and Vulnerability management
Handling Hardware Failure Cases
Automating tasks (code, apply and troubleshoot) using Shell scripts, Ansible
Must have Veritas and OpenSVC skillset to support daily operation and setting up for projects.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Eg. Able to break down complex technical situations and communicate with non-technical managers and very technical Level 3 senior system administrators.
As part of team rota to Support On-Call, Morning Support, and Weekend Production Changes. Candidate must be willing to do work on weekends. Also be on call or attend incident calls outside office hours at short notice.
Candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science etc.

Experience using or supporting VSAN, iSCSI, DAS, NAS, SAN storage technologies.

Preferable if the candidate has knowledge and skills working with Low Latency or Electronic Trading Network
