Tax Governance Specialist

As a Tax Governance Specialist (Excise), you will play a key role in strengthening excise tax governance, audit readiness, and compliance across the organization. You will help build and maintain a robust control environment by developing governance frameworks, audit-ready documentation, and standardized operating procedures that support sustainable compliance with excise regulations.

Working closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and external stakeholders, you will support excise audits and investigations, coordinate regulatory responses, and drive continuous improvements that embed a strong tax compliance culture across business processes.

As the Tax Governance Specialist, you will

Audit Readiness & Governance

• Develop and maintain audit-ready excise defense files, including process documentation, reconciliations, permits, registrations, and control evidence.
• Conduct periodic compliance reviews and governance assessments to identify risks and strengthen controls.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of excise SOPs, governance standards, and control frameworks aligned with global tax policies.
  
  

Audit & Investigation Support

• Coordinate responses to excise audits, regulatory reviews, investigations, and enforcement activities.
• Manage information requests, documentation gathering, issue tracking, and action monitoring across multiple stakeholders.
• Support remediation initiatives and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  
  

Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance Culture

• Partner with business functions to integrate tax compliance requirements into day-to-day operations.
• Deliver compliance awareness initiatives, training sessions, and guidance to improve stakeholder understanding of excise requirements.
• Promote a proactive compliance mindset and strengthen governance awareness across the organization.
  
  

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and enhance governance and compliance processes.
• Support automation and digitalization initiatives that improve reporting quality, documentation management, and audit readiness.
  
  

Requirements

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in tax, audit support, internal controls, tax advisory, or compliance-related functions.
• Experience supporting audits, investigations, or regulatory reviews and managing audit documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management, coordination, and communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a governance mindset.
• Fluent in English and Filipino.
  
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in excise tax compliance and documentation.
• Exposure to regulated industries such as tobacco, alcohol, sweetened beverages, or similar excise-regulated sectors.
• Experience developing SOPs, control frameworks, governance processes, or audit defense files.
• Background in continuous improvement, process optimization, or automation initiatives.
