What Transportation Contributes To Cardinal Health

Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.

Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes.

The Transportation Systems team emphasizes a partnership with internal and external customers to the execution of Logistics operations processes within Cardinal Health systems. This position provides support to our replenishment and distribution centers by aligning technology solutions to optimize the value of the transportation and warehouse processes for the Cardinal Health Supply Chain.

Accountabilities

  • Primary leader of transportation systems maintenance supporting the movement of products between suppliers, warehousing and to the customer.
  • Manage TMS configuration activities such as customer account setup and route maintenance.
  • Subject matter expert for systems and operational processes within Transportation, supporting strategic projects and initiatives from design, testing, implementation, and day to day execution.
  • Supervise daily transportation operations, ensuring timely communication of delivery updates and resolution of service issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate case response to customer inquiries, escalations, and service disruptions. Accountable to accurate data entry and maintenance within the transportation systems.
  • Develop and implement KPIs to measure team and individual performance, aligned with business goals. Accountable to ensuring system SOPs are created and maintained.
  • Design and monitor incentive programs to drive accountability, engagement, and high performance. Works on or may lead complex projects of large scope.
  • Streamline and automate tracking and reporting processes to reduce manual workload and improve data accuracy.
  • Monitor and manage team workload, ensuring timely responses to customer service inquiries and courier escalations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and liaise with internal and/or external stakeholders, including senior leaders. 
  • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-ones to align on priorities, provide coaching, and address performance.
  • Prepare and present reports on team performance, delivery metrics, and process improvements to leadership.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Identify and escalate systemic issues with recommended solutions and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Partner with IT and process owners to support system enhancements and automation opportunities.
  • Coordinate with finance and operations to ensure accurate billing, cost allocation, and budget tracking.
  • Maintain and update documentation, SOPs, and training materials to reflect current processes and best practices.
  • Track and report on courier and carrier performance, including on-time delivery and service failures.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and support internal audits as needed.
  • Support business continuity planning and execution during service disruptions or peak periods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in TMS, logistics, or supply chain operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong project management skills and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF statements) and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment.
  • Critical thinking, adaptability in problem-solving, and the ability to provide actionable outcomes.
  • High personal integrity, ethics, and a customer-centric mindset.
  • Strong technical skillset in technologies supporting transportation execution activities preferred
  • Available to work 8:00 am–5:00 pm EST.
