The Senior Tax Advisor is responsible to provide expert tax advisory and consulting services to ensure compliance with Philippine tax and other relevant business laws while optimizing tax efficient positions for the HCPH’s operations. This role supports local, corporate and cross-border transactions and ensuring alignment with HCPH’s international tax strategies. The position will also focus on mitigating tax risks on various transactions, managing tax audits, and structuring tax optimization/saving opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor changes in Philippine tax legislation and provide proactive recommendation and study of the differences on tax treatment, if any, affecting HCPH and preparation of an executive summary to be presented as periodic tax updates
- Assist the Tax Manager to develop and implement tax efficient strategies that align with HCPH’s overall business strategies
- Assist the tax manager in managing the day-to-day tax advisory activities of HCPH in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures, and relevant tax laws/regulations.
- Supports cross-border transactions, transfer pricing documentation, and double taxation treaty application of HCPH and HQ tax team related to special project
- Assist the Tax Manager and Supervisor in the preparation of protest letters and to represent HCPH during tax audits or tax mapping, especially those conducted by the Local Government Units (LGU)
- Conducts risk assessment to identify and minimize potential exposures both internally (with other business units within HCPH) and externally (with various government agencies).
- Provides support in the conduct of research and study to identify and resolve tax treatments of certain transactions
- Liaise with legal counsel, external tax advisors, external and internal auditors to resolve complex tax issues
- Assist the tax compliance team during registration or other legwork related activities concerning HCPH
- Assist the tax manager in the high-level review of transactions and contracts entered into by HCPH
- Assist other business units in the confirmation of tax treatment of various transactions especially those related to new updates of law, rules, and regulations (transaction level)
What You Need To Have
- Bachelors degree in Finance/Accountancy or Juris Doctor degree
- At least 3 to 5 years meaningful experience handling Philippine Taxation
- Preferred to have working experience with the Big 4 Audit Firms)
- Good knowledge in taxation of Financial Technology (FinTech) companies and/or financial institutions
- Experience in dealing/interacting with BIR or LGUs concerning tax audit/inspections
- Good planning, organization, and analytical skills
- Problem solving skills, well organized and can be trusted to pay attention to details
- Good communication (written and oral) skills, ability to effectively communicate
