About The Role
As a Product Manager , you’ll play a key role in deciding what we build, why we build it, and how we know it’s creating real value.
You’ll own the end-to-end lifecycle of products and features — from uncovering merchant problems and identifying opportunities, to shaping product strategy, partnering with Design and Engineering, launching solutions, and continuously improving them based on data and customer feedback.
This isn’t a role where success means maintaining a backlog or shipping as many features as possible.
We’re looking for someone who can step into complex problems, ask the right questions, make thoughtful trade-offs, and bring different teams together around a clear product direction.
You’ll Balance Customer Needs, Commercial Opportunities, User Experience, Technical Feasibility, Financial Impact, Operational Realities, And Regulatory Considerations To Answer Two Of The Most Important Product Questions:
What should we build — and why does it matter?
If you enjoy solving meaningful problems at the intersection of technology, business, and financial services, this could be the role for you.
What You'll Do
Shape Product Strategy & Roadmap
You’ll help determine where your product should go and which opportunities deserve investment.
You Will:
- Own and continuously evolve the roadmap for your product area.
- Identify opportunities that create meaningful value for merchants and PayMongo.
- Develop product strategies and business models aligned with PayMongo’s broader objectives.
- Prioritize initiatives based on customer impact, commercial potential, risk, effort, and technical feasibility.
- Make clear trade-offs when competing opportunities cannot all be pursued at once.
- Build compelling product narratives that help stakeholders understand priorities and decisions.
- Keep roadmap decisions grounded in customer needs, market realities, and business strategy.
You won’t simply inherit a roadmap. You’ll help shape it.
Discover Problems Worth Solving
Great products start with understanding the right problem.
Before jumping into solutions, you’ll work closely with Product Design, customers, and internal teams to understand what merchants actually need.
You Will:
- Partner with Product Design and stakeholders to uncover merchant needs, pain points, and opportunities.
- Conduct or participate in customer and user research.
- Define and validate problem spaces before committing significant engineering resources.
- Develop hypotheses and identify the assumptions that need to be tested.
- Explore solutions through prototypes, experiments, design sprints, and other discovery methods.
- Combine qualitative insights with quantitative data to inform product decisions.
- Determine when there is enough evidence to move from discovery into development.
We’re looking for someone who stays curious about
why customers behave the way they do , rather than immediately jumping to a feature.
Turn Opportunities Into Clear Product Outcomes
Once the problem is clear, you’ll define what success should look like.
You Will:
- Translate customer and business opportunities into clear product requirements.
- Develop strong Product Requirement Documents and supporting product documentation.
- Define measurable success metrics before launch.
- Establish KPIs that connect product performance with customer and business outcomes.
- Align stakeholders on expectations before development begins.
- Make sure Design and Engineering understand both what we’re building and why it matters .
Clarity will be one of your most important tools.
Build Alongside Design & Engineering
Product development at PayMongo is highly collaborative.
You’ll work closely with Product Designers, Engineers, and Engineering Managers throughout the development lifecycle.
You Will:
- Participate actively in sprint planning and product-development rituals.
- Clarify requirements, priorities, and desired outcomes.
- Make informed trade-offs when technical constraints or new information emerge.
- Resolve competing priorities and help unblock dependencies.
- Maintain alignment between product intent, user experience, and technical implementation.
- Keep stakeholders informed as products move through development.
- Help ensure product increments remain aligned with roadmap objectives.
You’ll need to influence without relying on formal authority — bringing teams together through context, evidence, and a shared understanding of the problem.
Navigate Fintech, Risk & Regulatory Complexity
Building financial products means creating experiences that are useful for customers while operating responsibly within financial, operational, and regulatory requirements.
You Will:
- Partner with Risk & Compliance, Finance, Legal, and other teams when evaluating product decisions.
- Consider regulatory implications when designing new products and features.
- Assess pricing, economics, cash-flow, and financial implications where relevant.
- Identify potential product and operational risks.
- Incorporate appropriate controls and compliance requirements into product design.
- Help ensure products are commercially sound, operationally viable, and compliant before launch.
You don’t need to arrive knowing every detail of payments regulation.
You
do need to be comfortable learning complex domains quickly and making thoughtful decisions when customer, commercial, technical, and regulatory considerations intersect.
Take Products From Build to Market
Your ownership doesn’t stop when Engineering finishes development.
You’ll help make sure the organization — and our merchants — are ready for what comes next.
You Will:
- Work with Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and other teams to prepare for launches.
- Develop clear narratives around the value of new products and features.
- Make sure customer-facing and internal teams understand what is launching, who it is for, and why it matters.
- Support adoption, onboarding, and activation strategies.
- Coordinate cross-functional dependencies that affect launch readiness.
- Help PayMongo bring new capabilities to market successfully.
A great product launch is not just a release date. It’s when customers understand the value, adopt the product, and keep using it.
Measure, Learn & Keep Improving
Shipping is only the beginning.
You’ll continuously evaluate whether products are delivering the outcomes we expected.
You Will:
- Monitor product performance against defined success metrics.
- Track measures such as activation, adoption, retention, revenue impact, and customer experience.
- Analyze product data and customer feedback.
- Identify where users encounter friction or fail to adopt expected behaviors.
- Investigate why performance differs from expectations.
- Determine what should be improved, expanded, changed, or stopped.
- Feed post-launch learning back into discovery and roadmap decisions.
We care less about how many features were shipped and more about whether they made a meaningful difference.

We’re looking for a Product Manager who combines
customer empathy, commercial thinking, analytical rigor, and strong execution .
You’ll likely thrive in this role if you have:

- The ability to influence without formal authority.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to explain complex product decisions to both technical and business audiences.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities, information, and constraints can change.
