Role Description

The Change Management Lead is responsible for designing and driving a comprehensive, program-wide change management and user adoption strategy for a large-scale digital transformation initiative. The role ensures that new digital solutions are effectively adopted, embedded into operations, and supported by sustainable internal capabilities.

This position operates across multiple concurrent projects, aligning stakeholders, standardizing approaches, and enabling consistent execution of change management practices.

This role is offered as a 6-month contract initially, with potential to extend up to 1.5 years based on program needs.

This role requires partial overlap with client working hours, including evening meetings, but candidates will have flexibility to self-manage their working hours (morning, afternoon, or evening) as long as outputs are delivered, and they are expected to coordinate with clients and teammates as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Program-Level

  • Define and implement a unified change management framework, standards, and methodologies across all projects
  • Develop and maintain a centralized change strategy and playbook, including stakeholder mapping, readiness assessments, and adoption metrics
  • Establish common tools, templates, and processes for communication, training, and change execution
  • Provide advisory on adoption risks, readiness, and mitigation strategies at the Program level
  • Coordinate change activities across projects to ensure consistency and avoid stakeholder fatigue
  • Support internal capability-building through coaching, workshops, and knowledge transfer to ensure long-term sustainability

Project-Level

  • Support project teams in embedding change management activities into project plans and delivery frameworks
  • Review and guide development of project-level change plans, including communications, training, and adoption tracking
  • Ensure user experience, behavioral change, and adoption considerations are integrated into product and system requirements
  • Advise on adoption-related success criteria and ensure usability and onboarding are prioritized alongside technical delivery
  • Oversee user testing to validate real-world usability and readiness, not just functional performance
  • Support development of onboarding and support strategies for new systems and tools
  • Monitor adoption metrics and user feedback post-launch, identifying risks and driving corrective actions

Execution & Enablement

  • Deliver targeted change management activities where direct involvement adds value (e.g. training, workshops)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and ensure effective implementation
  • Enable internal teams to independently sustain change management practices beyond the engagement

Expected Outputs

  • Standardized change management framework, toolkit, and templates
  • Program-wide change strategy and playbook
  • Training and capability-building sessions for teams
  • Oversight and quality assurance of project-level change plans
  • Adoption tracking and readiness reporting with actionable insights

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in change management, digital transformation, or enablement roles across program- or multi-project environments
  • Change Management & Framework Expertise: Experience applying structured change management methodologies (e.g., PROSCI/ADKAR) in designing frameworks, playbooks, or standardized approaches across programs
  • Communication & Stakeholder Enablement: Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-centered messaging, training, and engagement plans, and effectively align both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Execution & Ownership: High level of ownership and initiative, with a collaborative and hands-on approach to driving change activities, supporting teams, and enabling internal capability-building
  • Problem Solving in Ambiguity: Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, with the ability to create structure, guide teams, and apply practical, delivery-oriented problem solving grounded in real-world constraints
  • Learning Agility: Strong learning agility and curiosity, with the ability to quickly build context across new domains, tools, or transformation initiatives, and apply learnings to improve adoption and delivery outcomes

Engagement Terms

  • Competitive professional fee — the fee amount is positively correlated with the difficulty of the job, relevant experience, fit, and skill factors.
  • Remote Set-Up — fully remote, with a strong emphasis on ownership, asynchronous collaboration, and output-driven work.
  • Opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange with the leadership team.
