MARKET AND LIQUIDITY RISK OFFICER

A leading international financial institution is seeking a Market and Liquidity Risk Officer to join its team in BGC. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in overseeing market, interest rate, liquidity, and treasury risks within a highly respected banking environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring robust risk frameworks, providing independent assessments, and supporting the organisation’s digital transformation journey. The position offers exposure to a wide range of risk management activities, from policy development to hands-on analysis of macroeconomic trends and industry sectors. If you are looking for a role that combines technical expertise with strategic influence, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact while enjoying flexible working opportunities and ongoing professional development.

  • Take ownership of comprehensive risk oversight across market, interest rate, liquidity, and treasury functions, ensuring all processes align with both internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on digital transformation initiatives, customer-centric projects, and agile business practices that drive innovation throughout the organisation.
  • Benefit from a supportive leadership structure that values knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and inclusive teamwork as you contribute to the bank’s growth and resilience.

What You'll Do

As a Market and Liquidity Risk Officer based in BGC, you will be entrusted with safeguarding the organisation’s financial stability by implementing rigorous risk management practices across multiple domains. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve developing robust policies tailored to evolving regulatory landscapes; conducting thorough compliance checks; delivering independent assessments on complex treasury transactions; analysing macroeconomic trends; preparing detailed reports; participating in product evaluations; supporting audit remediation; collaborating on industry research; contributing to digital transformation projects; and playing an active role in customer-focused initiatives. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across departments. Your ability to anticipate emerging risks while maintaining high standards of accuracy will be key to driving effective decision-making throughout the organisation.

  • Review, update, and draft market, interest rate, and liquidity risk policies and procedures in line with group guidelines and local regulatory requirements, ensuring these are effectively communicated across relevant business units.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring of approved risk policies to ensure strict adherence by all departments involved in market-facing activities.
  • Provide independent risk assessment on treasury transactions during approval processes, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory ratios and internal thresholds.
  • Assess large value transactions for their impact on liquidity ratios and interest rate risk metrics, coordinating with portfolio management for expected credit loss considerations as needed.
  • Measure, monitor, and independently report on various risks through business-as-usual monitoring, stress testing, scenario analysis, simulation exercises, investment portfolio reviews, and timely risk alerts.
  • Continuously review and enhance the risk management framework to reflect new regulatory standards and Basel requirements so that the organisation remains compliant at all times.
  • Participate actively in product due diligence assessments by providing expert opinions on market, interest rate, and liquidity risks associated with new products or services.
  • Lead the preparation of standard operating procedures related to market and liquidity risk management while rectifying audit findings promptly to maintain operational excellence.
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer in risk governance activities as part of the ROICC Secretariat and contribute valuable insights into recovery planning processes.
  • Work collaboratively with credit approval teams on industry studies and underwriting guidelines while also engaging in digital transformation efforts such as agile team assignments or customer-centric initiatives.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate for the Market and Liquidity Risk Officer role brings a wealth of experience from reputable financial institutions where they have honed their expertise in managing complex risks associated with markets, interest rates, liquidity positions, and treasury operations. Your background should include hands-on involvement in drafting policies that meet both global best practices and local regulations. You will have demonstrated success performing independent assessments—particularly regarding large-scale transactions—and utilising sophisticated measurement tools like stress testing or scenario simulations. In addition to technical acumen around Basel standards or asset-liability management principles, your strengths lie in your analytical mindset for economic research as well as your ability to communicate clearly across diverse teams. A commitment to continuous improvement—whether through process enhancements or participation in digital transformation projects—will ensure you thrive within this forward-thinking environment.

  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, Financial Engineering, Statistics or a closely related discipline is required for this position.
  • At least five years’ experience working within banks or financial institutions is essential, including a minimum of two years specialising in asset-liability management or financial/market/treasury risk management roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in treasury products is necessary to provide accurate assessments during transaction approvals and policy reviews.
  • Proven ability to develop or update comprehensive risk policies aligned with both group-level directives and local regulatory expectations is highly valued.
  • Experience conducting independent risk assessments for large value transactions as well as routine monitoring using advanced measurement tools such as stress tests or scenario analyses is important.
  • Familiarity with current Basel requirements along with practical knowledge of updating frameworks according to new regulatory standards will set you apart.
  • Strong analytical skills are required for macroeconomic analysis as well as industry sector research supporting credit underwriting guidelines.
  • Excellent communication abilities are needed for disseminating policies across teams and preparing clear reports for senior management or regulatory bodies.
  • A collaborative approach is vital when working alongside credit approval teams or participating in agile groups focused on digital transformation initiatives within the bank.
