IP Data Analyst I

Description & Requirements

The IP Data Analyst I will provide a full service for the trademark prosecution process or maintenance of clients IP rights, using IP systems that have been and may occasionally be deployed. The role-holder will provide full administrative support in processing IP-related correspondence, issuing instructions to correspondent law firms, and fulfilling other duties as required ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of clients undertaken by IPSU.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate, analyze, and process incoming correspondence relating to IP matters received from Baker McKenzie offices, IP clients, and additional global law firms
• Identify key deadlines and update client records accordingly using an electronic IP management system
• Create records and co-ordinate IP matter work plans to relevant IP attorneys based on new instructions received from IP clients and Baker McKenzie managing offices
• Update global records with accurate and consistent data throughout the trademark registration, renewals, and maintenance process
• Docket and review actions (i.e. e-docket) relevant to the clients trademark portfolio management
• Provide agents with instructions to renew trademarks promptly or to allow trademarks to lapse per clients recommendations, including:

- updating trademark records based on agreed procedures and processes

- generating reports of registrations due for renewal for a certain period

- process renewal instructions

• Communicate via email with internal colleagues and global clients
• Proactively review operational processes, and actively recommend operational and process improvements
• Manage own workload by allocating work items based on the order of priorities
• Perform record-auditing of trademarks during client intake or when necessary
• Closely coordinate with the specialists, and leaders on issues that may affect the clients IP rights
• Participate in the implementation and execution of the agreed initiatives and action items in the business plan and other business improvement programs
• Perform other tasks and activities as may be assigned by the Management Team or leaders from time to time

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree with good academic credentials
• Experience working on IP matters is an advantage but not required
• Good analytical and comprehension skills
• Good oral and written English communication skills
• Can handle multiple tasks while maintaining great accuracy, consistency, and quality in data entry and administrative work
• Able to prioritize and work independently with limited supervision
• A strong commitment to outstanding client service
• Working outside normal business hours may be necessary
• Team player, with a pleasant and positive approach to a sometimes heavy workload
• Able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
• Able to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet
• Exceptional work ethic, personal and professional integrity

Travel requirements: None, unless required by IPTech PG or its clients.
