Job Overview

This position is a key leadership role for the Aclara-MERALCO Meter Business JV in the Philippines, which provides guidance and direction of the Company’s operating, functional and administrative activities to ensure achievement of established levels of profitability and continued business growth. This position plans, formulates, coordinates and administers the short-term and long-term strategic plans, policies, goals and objectives of the Company.

The Vice President role provides executive leadership and supports governance, administration, commercial operations, and organizational strategy, and oversees operational, commercial, financial, administrative, and HR activities as delegated, and may act as Officer-in-Charge in the absence of the AMPI President & General Manager.

A Day In The Life

  • Assist in the review and establishment of corporate budgets and operating plans, goals and objectives, policies and programs, including medium and long-term strategic plans which will ensure the Company’s viability and continued business growth.
  • Assist in the review, development and execution of business, commercial and product strategies towards securing market leadership in the Philippines.
  • Build the Hubbell and Aclara brand and image in the Philippine market.
  • Build strong business relationships with key personnel and executives of MERALCO, as the Company’s primary customer and joint venture partner.
  • Establish and maintain the necessary business network with relevant government agencies, business and trade associations, and end-users, i.e., electric utilities and cooperatives, as well as key commercial and industrial customers
  • Reviews and measures operating results against established objectives, schedules and budgets, and institutes corrective measures when necessary.
  • Plans, formulates coordinates and integrates the diverse functions involving sales and marketing, financial operations, manufacturing operations, quality, customer support, and EHS.
  • Maintain effective communication channels between AMPI staff with the Aclara Meters product management, engineering, quality, sourcing and other relevant support groups, to ensure optimum communication, cooperation and support.
  • Communicate Hubbell and Aclara policies, corporate and leadership announcements, initiatives and programs to the local AMPI organization, and implement local activities to ensure engagement of AMPI employees.
  • Ensure AMPI and AMPI employees’ compliance with Hubbell policies, corporate governance and JV requirements
  • Direct talent development, workforce planning, and labor relations by coordinating with the assigned Aclara Human Resources business partner and Aclara Meters organization with respect to staffing, organization development, training needs, compensation & benefits, and labor-management activities to ensure employee engagement, talent development, workforce productivity, compliance with local labor regulations, as well as fulfillment of contractual obligations under the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements, laws and legislation relevant to the operations of AMPI, including, but not limited to:
    • Product type-approvals requirements and regulations relevant to AMPI metering products and associated services, as well as new product introductions which may be implemented in the future
    • Local and national government tax filing and reporting
    • Business permits and licenses,
    • Environmental compliance with DENR, EMB, and LLDA policies and regulations,
    • Health & safety compliance with regulations and requirements of DOLE, BFP, and other government regulatory and enforcement agencies
  • Provide leadership continuity and ensure execution of succession plans for key and critical roles and employees of the Company.
What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree holder from a leading Philippine University; a major in the engineering sciences, or social sciences is preferred.
  • Must have at least 12 – 15 years business experience with the last 5 years as a major functional Vice President/Division Head in a multinational corporation.
  • Proven leadership, entrepreneurial, and people handling skills are necessary ingredients for a successful assignment.
