The Senior Database Administrator manages essential aspects of database operations to ensure data availability and security. The role designs and implements databases, provides advanced support, troubleshoots issues, and implements backup processes for secure and efficient operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for the database operations, including provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining all database servers and applications.
Ensure that data is available, protected from loss and corruption, and easily accessible as needed.
Ensure the performance, integrity, and security of database information that is not limited to confidential financial numbers, payroll data, and customer shipping records.
Secure that the data is available to the users and from unauthorized access or accidental loss or corruption.
Allocate system storage and plan future storage requirements for the database system.
Create primary database storage structures (tablespaces) after application developers have designed an application.
install, configure, and upgrade databases, staying updated on emerging technologies like cloud-based database solutions and containerization.
Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure seamless database integration and infrastructure management. Communicate effectively regarding database health, performance metrics, and potential risks.
Implement robust security practices including data encryption, role-based access control, and disaster recovery plan execution.
Provide advanced support for operation, monitoring, high availability, performance tuning, and daily administration of databases.
Take a lead role in performing various database functions, including designing, implementing new databases, and configuration management.
Maintain database schemas, query logic, and report definitions for in-house development and applications.
Support in the Implementation of backup processes aligning with business recovery policies and manage database access.
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors, recommending and implementing emerging technologies.
Create and manage advanced database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
Lead the promotion of test databases to the production environment and establish advanced clustering and partitioning strategies.
Other job-related activities that may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 3+ years of experience with programming languages such as PL/SQL coding.
At least 3+ years of experience in administering, managing, and tuning databases.
At least 3+ years of experience with Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
Proven working experience as a Database Administrator.
Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications.
Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding - Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools.
