A Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Implementation Engineer is responsible for the direct supervision of the DAS deployment, configuration, testing, and optimization of wireless communication systems that enhance network coverage inside vertical infrastructures like commercial and residential buildings, hospitals, hotels, Malls, and etc. This role balances field work with office-based design and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
Deployment Of MNO Approved DAS Designs: Lead and perform the physical installation of active and passive according to MNO approved design and specifications. Ensures that the DAS is implemented according to the MNO approved plan, on time and budget. Monitors and accounts for the RF materials delivered to the site.
Site and Pre installation Survey for the Site Equipment room and CME: Conduct survey for the equipment room, and all CME requirements of the site. This is done together with an RF engineer who surveys for the DAS antenna layout and feeder routes and riser locations. Assess all feeder cable routes and antenna location, CME works are implementable during the pre-installation survey.
Testing both for VSWR and PIM, Rectifier and Environmental alarm Simulation: Lead subcontractor in conducting ready for Telecom Installation (RFTI) testing to verify compliance with carrier and client requirements. When all tests have passed, declares the site as RFTI ready.
Coordinates with BAU Telecom Team for Telecom Installation, Integration and BFT: Assist BAU subcontractors during telecom installation, monitors their progress. Ensures during integration that he and the subcontractor’s team is present to assist the BAU subcontractor for a successful integration and BFT which will result to a successful technical Ready for Service (TRFS) by the MNO which will officially declare the site On-air.
Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with project managers, RF design engineers, subcontractor’s installation teams, and clients to ensure seamless project execution. Confirms that detailed correction on the implementation plan (Red Line) submitted by the subcontractor is correct and submits this to the Team’s documentation for the as-built preparation including test reports.
Troubleshooting: Identify and correct system issues that arise during deployment, integration, and acceptance testing, often collaborating with design engineers and other stakeholders to find effective solutions.
Requirements:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics and communications engineering, or a related field is typically required, or equivalent work experience.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of RF principles, wireless communication technologies (e.g., 2G, LTE, 5G), and network infrastructure.
Understand IDAS or CDAS implementation drawing, standards of installation.
Experienced in single cable MIMO installation and troubleshooting is a big plus.
Experience with DAS Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) equipment (e.g., Commscope, SOLiD, Corning).
Knowledge of structured cabling (coaxial and fiber optic) principles and installation/testing procedures.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams and clients.
Diligence and strong time management skills.
Ability to travel frequently to various job sites.
