As a Payment Lifecycle Specialist in Manual Payments team, you will process manual payments based on instructions from internal and external clients while ensuring each request is authenticated and authorized in line with risk and control requirements. You will respond to payment-related queries, support management information reporting, and help maintain workflow continuity through cross-coverage and task rotation.

Job responsibilities

  • Process manual payment transactions accurately and in line with defined controls and procedures.
  • Authenticate and execute payment instructions in accordance with risk and control requirements.
  • Monitor a shared mailbox and respond to payment-related queries within agreed service standards.
  • Investigate exceptions and resolve payment issues, escalating when appropriate.
  • Meet processing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and completeness.
  • Produce accurate management information reports, logs, and trackers as required.
  • Perform cross-coverage and backup tasks to support production continuity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work practices and support implementation of agreed enhancements.
  • Support shift coverage across multiple regional business hours as required (TBD: confirm shift schedule details).

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., business, finance, accounting, economics, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of international payment concepts and messaging standards (e.g., SWIFT and ISO 20022).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and maintain accurate records in a controlled environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including timely ownership of issues through resolution.
  • Ability to escalate issues appropriately based on impact, urgency, and defined guidelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks to deadlines.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Experience in payment operations, transaction processing, or back-office operations within a financial services environment.
  • Experience authenticating payment instructions and applying risk and control checks.
  • Working knowledge of SWIFT message types and/or ISO 20022 payment flows.
  • Experience monitoring shared mailboxes and managing time-sensitive queries.
  • Experience preparing management information reports, trackers, and operational metrics.
  • Experience using Microsoft Access (or similar database tools) for reporting and analysis.
