 Technical Lead / Manager - IBM Maximo & MAS Modernization
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead / Manager - IBM Maximo & Maximo Application Suite (MAS) to lead application modernization and migration initiatives from IBM Maximo 7.6 to MAS 9. This role combines technical leadership, solution architecture, customer engagement, and team management responsibilities.
The successful candidate will lead technical workstreams responsible for assessing existing Maximo implementations, defining migration strategies, remediating customizations, and delivering modernized solutions on MAS. The role requires a strong understanding of Maximo applications, integrations, databases, infrastructure dependencies, and enterprise architecture considerations that impact successful migration outcomes.
As a technical leader, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers and project stakeholders while managing a team of consultants, developers, and technical specialists throughout the assessment, design, migration, testing, and deployment phases.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Delivery
•    Lead technical workstreams for Maximo 7.6 to MAS 9 migration and modernization programs.
•    Drive end-to-end delivery of application migration, remediation, enhancement, and deployment activities.
•    Provide technical leadership for solution architecture, development, testing, and deployment teams.
•    Establish technical standards, delivery methodologies, and governance processes for modernization projects.
•    Review technical designs and ensure alignment with MAS architecture and best practices.
•    Guide teams in resolving complex technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges.
•    Lead technical reviews, code quality initiatives, and deployment readiness assessments.

Assessment & Migration Strategy
•    Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and technical assessments with customer stakeholders.
•    Assess existing Maximo environments, including: 
o    Applications
o    Customizations
o    Integrations
o    Workflows
o    Reports
o    Security configurations
o    Database extensions
o    Infrastructure components
•    Identify migration risks, technical debt, unsupported customizations, and upgrade blockers.
•    Perform fit-gap analysis between current Maximo implementations and MAS capabilities.
•    Define migration approaches and remediation strategies for applications and custom components.
•    Develop modernization roadmaps and phased implementation plans.
•    Provide recommendations on application redesign, reconfiguration, or redevelopment where necessary.

•    Design migration solutions that balance business requirements, technical feasibility, maintainability, and future scalability.
•    Provide architectural guidance on: 
o    MAS Manage implementation
o    Maximo applications
o    Maximo Integration Framework (MIF)

o    REST APIs
o    Workflow solutions
o    Reporting solutions
•    Evaluate dependencies between applications, integrations, infrastructure, middleware, and databases.
•    Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, and operational standards.

•    Understand and assess infrastructure requirements supporting MAS deployments, including OpenShift and containerized environments.
•    Evaluate infrastructure readiness and technical dependencies impacting migration activities.
•    Lead integration assessments involving ERP, GIS, operational systems, middleware, and third-party applications.
•    Review database customizations and extensions to determine migration impacts.
•    Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, database, and integration teams to ensure successful deployment and operations.
•    Recommend architecture improvements that enhance performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

•    Serve as the primary technical advisor for customers during assessment and migration engagements.
•    Build trusted relationships with business and technical stakeholders.
•    Present technical findings, migration strategies, risks, and recommendations to project leadership and executive audiences.
•    Facilitate decision-making sessions and obtain alignment across project stakeholders.
•    Manage customer expectations while balancing scope, timelines, delivery priorities, and technical constraints.
•    Support proposal development, solution estimation, and project planning activities when required.

•    Lead and mentor teams of consultants, developers, architects, and technical specialists.
•    Allocate resources and manage technical work assignments across project workstreams.

•    Foster a collaborative, high-performance delivery culture focused on quality and customer success.
•    Support talent development and succession planning within the practice.

•    Oversee migration validation, testing, and deployment activities.
•    Ensure appropriate testing coverage across:

•    Ensure migration and remediation activities meet quality, security, and compliance standards.
•    Lead cutover planning, go-live support, and post-implementation stabilization activities.

•    Champion the use of AI tools and practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
•    Leverage AI-assisted capabilities for: 
o    Code analysis and remediation
o    Upgrade impact assessments

o    Productivity optimization
•    Identify opportunities to leverage AI capabilities within MAS and enterprise asset management solutions.
•    Promote innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within project teams.

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
•    7 to 10 years of IBM Maximo experience with increasing technical leadership responsibilities.
•    Proven experience leading Maximo implementation, upgrade, or modernization projects.
•    Hands-on experience with Maximo 7.6 environments and migration planning for MAS.
•    Experience leading technical teams and customer-facing engagements.
•    Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
•    Experience managing project stakeholders across business and technical organizations.
