 Senior Consultant - IBM Maximo / MAS Upgrade & Modernization
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant - IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) to lead technical assessments, modernization initiatives, and upgrade programs for clients migrating from IBM Maximo 7.x environments to Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 9.2.
The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in Maximo architecture, customizations, integrations, and application development, and can evaluate customer environments, identify upgrade risks, define remediation strategies, and execute migration activities. This role requires strong customer-facing consulting skills, hands-on technical leadership, and the ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and practices across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to improve quality, productivity, and delivery outcomes.
The consultant will work directly with client stakeholders, architects, developers, testers, and project leadership teams to deliver successful Maximo modernization and transformation engagements.

Key Responsibilities
Maximo Assessment & Modernization
•    Conduct comprehensive technical assessments of existing Maximo environments, including: 
o    Configurations
o    Customizations
o    Integrations
o    Workflows
o    Reports
o    Security models
o    Data architecture
o    Infrastructure readiness
•    Analyze upgrade impacts and identify migration blockers for MAS 9.2 adoption.
•    Develop modernization roadmaps and remediation strategies for legacy Maximo implementations.
•    Assess custom Java, Automation Scripts, integrations, and database extensions to determine upgrade compatibility.
•    Provide recommendations on best-practice architecture, scalability, maintainability, and supportability.
Upgrade & Remediation Delivery
•    Lead remediation and refactoring of Maximo customizations to align with MAS architecture and upgrade standards.
•    Execute Maximo to MAS upgrade activities, including environment preparation, migration validation, testing, and deployment support.
•    Design and implement solutions using Maximo configuration capabilities while minimizing future technical debt.
•    Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex technical challenges encountered during upgrade projects.
•    Support production cutover and post-upgrade stabilization activities.
Solution Design & Development
•    Design, develop, and enhance: 
o    Maximo applications
o    Automation scripts
o    Integrations
o    Workflows
o    Reports
o    User interface configurations
•    Create functional specifications, technical designs, remediation plans, and implementation deliverables.
•    Lead development activities and enforce engineering best practices during solution delivery.
•    Contribute to performance tuning, system optimization, and application support initiatives.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
•    Serve as a trusted advisor to customers throughout assessment, modernization, and upgrade engagements.
•    Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and technical review meetings.
•    Present findings, recommendations, and upgrade strategies to both technical and business stakeholders.
•    Collaborate with client teams to drive adoption of Maximo and MAS best practices.
Quality Engineering & Testing
•    Define and execute upgrade validation strategies.
•    Support unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment verification.
•    Ensure remediation activities meet quality, security, and performance standards.
•    Mentor junior consultants on testing approaches and defect resolution.
AI-Enabled Delivery
•    Utilize AI-assisted development and testing tools to accelerate solution delivery and improve quality.
•    Apply AI capabilities throughout the SDLC, including: 
o    Code analysis and modernization
o    Test case generation
o    Defect identification
o    Documentation generation
o    Technical impact assessments
o    Productivity optimization
•    Evaluate opportunities to leverage AI capabilities within MAS and asset management solutions.
•    Promote responsible AI practices and governance during project execution.

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
•    6+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Maximo EAM.
•    Proven experience delivering Maximo implementation, upgrade, or modernization projects.
•    Experience performing technical assessments and upgrade readiness evaluations.
•    Strong understanding of Maximo 7.6.x environments and migration considerations to MAS.
•    Experience working directly with clients and leading technical discussions.
•    Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to independently drive workstreams and mentor junior team members.
