JOB SUMMARY:
This position is based in the product engineering team of the Entertainment Technology group.
In this role, you will design and test audio and video software for global users in consumer entertainment and automotive industries in collaboration with key industry partners. The role involves designing and testing Dolbys audio and video technologies, including Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, along with operating systems integration and application development.
We are seeking a candidate with deep expertise in QA methodologies, multimedia frameworks, and audio/video technologies, backed by a strong command of OS internals (Android, Linux). In this role, you will independently plan and execute testing strategies to meet technical and schedule milestones, while enforcing QA standards and mentoring junior team members. You will operate within a global engineering team, combining technical leadership with cross-cultural collaboration, and serve as a key interface between engineering leads, product managers, and customers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Software testing
Review proposed technologies, develop test strategies and contribute proposals to improve testability
Lead test planning including test design, test coverage, test approach, risk assessment, and reporting metrics.
Design and implement new test methods to address next-generation capabilities in Dolby products.
Design and develop new automation tools.
Design, set up, configure, and maintain software testing labs and environments.
Report issues through a formal bug tracking system and collaborate with the engineering team to isolate, debug, and resolve issues.
Participate in bug review meetings and analyse bug status data and metrics.
Technical Expertise
Demonstrable high-level experience in test planning, test design, and test reporting.
High-level experience testing software on a range of software and hardware platforms such as Android, Windows, MacOS, Unix/Linux, and iOS.
Extensive experience using test automation frameworks.
Make well-informed technical decisions that consider all aspects of problems
Provide technical guidance to team members and assist engineers with tool utilization
Stay abreast of industry software testing tools and best practices and make significant contributions to the development and deployment of new test technologies, tools or methods.
Quality & Documentation
Guarantee test sustainability by architecting and maintaining a comprehensive technical documentation repository.
Continuously optimize testing methodologies and frameworks to maximize coverage, efficiency, and technical relevance.
Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks and project bottlenecks before they impact release schedules.
Leadership & Communication
Work autonomously while managing ambiguity and multiple priorities effectively
Manage time effectively to achieve both individual and team objectives
Clearly communicate technical concepts to audiences at all organizational levels
Represent the team and company professionally when interacting with internal and external customers
Build a high degree of influence with internal & external partners
Mentor junior team members and enhance team effectiveness through workflow improvements
Develop and maintain key relationships throughout the organization
REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
8+ years of software testing experience, with a primary focus on Android or Linux ecosystems.
Extensive experience testing Audio/Video products for the consumer electronics or automotive industries.
5+ years’ experience working with video/audio codecs (H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC), multimedia frameworks, or DSP technologies.
Experience with Android OS internals is highly desirable.
Strong proficiency in Python scripting for building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
A thorough understanding of software testing life cycle and QA processes.
Familiarity with automotive standards and security testing practices.
Capability to plan project deadlines using goals and work breakdown structures.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both general and technology-specific contexts.
