Description

Joining the advisory team for Australia in our Sydney office, you will collaborate with our clients to help accelerate the energy transition. You will play a key role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations, while also managing workstreams and projects and driving internal initiatives.


You will be a key member of the Australian advisory practice and expected to have experience in the energy markets, either at a consultancy, government body, or industry in a management capacity.

Key Responsibilities

As an Advisory Principal/Project Leader in the Sydney Office, you will be responsible for:

  • Leadership: You will balance the delivery of commissioned projects with supporting, coaching and inspiring teams of analysts and energy modelers such that they continuously exemplify Aurora’s values, improve their performance capability and develop to their full potential.
  • Project delivery: You will develop a clear and detailed understanding of the client’s business and expectations, scoping projects and managing them to time and budget. You will also oversee multiple projects simultaneously, providing both internal and external stakeholders with the orientation they need in critical project phases and situations. You will ensure optimal delivery on clients’ expectations, including collaborating with project teams to deliver a suitable approach, oversee complex problem-solving, ensuring independent, high quality, rigorous quantitative analysis, interpretation and communication of data insights.
  • Developing new consulting business: You will contribute to building and growing close client relationships, and as their trusted advisor, you are the first to whom they turn. Additionally, you will acquire new clients and projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders to respond successfully to inbound requests for proposals, by identifying opportunities through establishing and deepening client relationships and building your external profile as a thought leader within the energy ecosystem. You will help with developing new business areas that will contribute to the rapid growth plans of the Australian practice in the coming years.


What we are looking for

Required attributes:

  • You will have extensive relevant experience in the electricity sector, either at a consultancy, government/regulatory body, or industry participant.
  • You will have demonstrated experience in using data and models to deliver electricity market insights.
  • You will evidence equal passion about delivering high quality projects and developing your people.
  • You will be collaborative by nature and have an empathetic leadership style that demonstrates skill in inspiring, raising performance and developing your teams.
  • You will want to use you intellectual and analytical excellence to make real and tangible impacts that influence and guide our clients through the complexities of the energy transition.
  • You will thrive on using your personal impact to create the highest quality products for clients combining first class analytics and modelling with clear presentation of insights.
  • Your strong project management skills will consistently ensure the management and delivery of clients’ projects exceeds their expectations.
  • You will have a proven track record of winning new business, both through writing compelling proposals in response to client requests, and through proactive business development


Desirable attributes:

  • Experience being a trusted advisor in relation to transactions and financing processes in the renewable energy and energy storage sectors will be considered a plus.
  • Experience in using market modelling software (e.g. Plexos) to deliver insights will be considered a plus.
