Job Summary
The Sustaining Engineering Manager for Power Supply products plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term reliability, efficiency, and performance of these essential components. This position oversees product lifecycle support through deep product knowledge, effective cross‑functional collaboration, robust data and documentation management, and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. By leading sustaining efforts, the manager helps maintain product quality, extend product longevity, and support overall customer satisfaction across various applications.
This role reports directly to the Senior Manager, Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Deep understanding of product design and specifications: The manager must thoroughly comprehend the intricacies of the power supply product, including its components, functionality, and limitations. This knowledge is essential for effective troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Taking over technical ownership after product development: Once the product development phase is complete, the sustaining engineering manager assumes responsibility for the products technical aspects, ensuring its smooth transition into the operational phase.
- Working with partner teams to refine scope and engagement methods: The manager collaborates with various teams, such as development, operations, and quality assurance, to identify opportunities for process improvement and ensure seamless integration across the organization.
- Driving adoption of key initiatives: The manager champions initiatives aimed at enhancing product performance, reliability, and efficiency, ensuring their successful implementation across the organization.
- Tracking failure metrics and analyzing reliability data: The manager monitors product performance, identifying potential issues and trends. This involves analyzing reliability data, conducting root cause analysis, and developing solutions to recurring problems.
- Soliciting feedback from field engineering, design engineering and operations teams: The manager actively seeks input from field teams to identify areas for improvement and incorporate user feedback into product design and development.
- Driving iterative product designs, firmware revisions, and process improvements: The manager fosters a culture of continuous improvement, implementing changes based on data analysis, operations feedback, and industry best practices.
- Leading and managing a team of engineers: The manager oversees a team of engineers responsible for various aspects of product sustainment, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree graduate preferably Electronics Engineering or any related course.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in a production or production support environment, with strong applied knowledge of engineering principles and processes related to power supply products.
- Demonstrated leadership experience as a manager or team lead, with the ability to supervise teams, delegate tasks effectively, and drive operational performance.
- Strong project management background, including planning, executing, and overseeing complex projects to ensure delivery within established timelines and budgets.
- Proven expertise in continuous improvement, with hands‑on experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process optimization and efficiency methodologies.
