Job Summary
The Maintenance Engineering Manager for AI/SMT oversees, leads, and controls daily maintenance engineering operations to ensure full compliance with standards, maximize equipment efficiency, and deliver high‑quality outputs. This role drives effective maintenance management, cost‑reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement projects that directly impact maintenance performance. The position consistently pushes for enhanced performance across key KPIs, including OEE, MTBF, and MTTR.
This position will report to Director Manufacturing Engineering.
Key Responsibilities Planning
- Oversee AISMT sustenance and improvement activities to support 24/7 operations and ensure all equipment is in optimal running condition.
- Strategize maintenance activities and milestones aligned with company KRAs (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery) including factory automation initiatives.
- Develop and maintain the AISMT technology roadmap and personnel capability development plan.
- Build multi‑skilled capabilities across the entire maintenance engineering team.
Leading
- Manage overall AISMT maintenance engineering activities, including online support and preventive maintenance, to ensure efficient operations.
- Make sound decisions and implement effective solutions during issues or revenue‑critical moments.
- Provide timely reporting and communication to section managers and top management regarding issues, improvement needs, and mitigation plans.
- Lead continuous program development to enhance maintenance systems and control processes.
- Promote 5S practices and foster a strong safety culture.
Organizing
- Promote ownership and accountability by assigning Engineers and Technicians based on technical capability and specialization.
- Ensure 24/7 process support while complying with RBA guidelines through proper shift rotations and staggered rest days.
- Strengthen interdepartmental coordination and communication channels.
Controlling
- Oversee SMD parts and material processing based on equipment availability and resource limitations.
- Ensure proper tools, equipment, and process control to achieve quality throughput.
- Manage section budget including expenses, repairs, and maintenance.
- Monitor employee attendance and overtime utilization.
Other Functions
- Attend required meetings and audits (customer, company system, quality, etc.).
- Lead and support automation projects.
- Support OEE, OATF, and company BRMA initiatives.
- Develop AISMT Engineering as a subject matter expert (SME) group, advancing technical excellence.
- Provide support to Materials Center SMT operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree graduate preferably Engineering course
- With at least more than 15 years of related experience in same industry.
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing SMT (Surface Mount Technology) manufacturing processes, ensuring operational stability and high‑quality output.
- Proven capability in managing automated manufacturing environments, driving efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of process control methodologies, with the ability to implement systems that enhance equipment performance and process stability.
- Working knowledge of FMEA and the ability to guide teams in applying risk‑mitigation and process‑improvement frameworks.
- Solid background in PLC systems and pneumatics principles, enabling effective leadership in troubleshooting and optimizing equipment performance.
- Familiarity with automation and robotics principles, with the ability to lead initiatives aligned with factory automation and Industry 4.0 goals.
