Job Summary
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing import shipments to ensure the timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of materials that support production and plant operations. Coordinates with suppliers, forwarders, brokers, and internal stakeholders to oversee import logistics, documentation, customs clearance, freight cost control, and shipment issue resolution while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Import Operations Management

  • Coordinate import shipments with freight forwarders, brokers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Monitor shipment status and expedite critical deliveries to meet production and operational requirements.
  • Recommend the most appropriate shipping mode based on urgency, cost, and business needs.
  • Provide daily shipment updates and pre-alerts to Purchasing, Planning, Receiving, and other concerned teams.


Import Documentation and Customs Compliance
  • Review and process import documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, suppliers, and brokers to resolve documentation issues and prevent shipment delays.
  • Support the application and approval of import permits and customs clearance requirements.


Freight Cost Management
  • Ensure adherence to the Import Logistics Freight Guide and established shipping procedures.
  • Evaluate shipment options and recommend cost-effective logistics solutions.
  • Support departmental KPIs related to freight cost optimization and logistics efficiency.


Service Provider Performance Monitoring
  • Monitor and evaluate freight forwarder and logistics service provider performance, including on-time delivery and cycle time metrics.
  • Maintain and update service provider scorecards and performance records.


Shipment Discrepancy and Non-Conformance Management
  • Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, including shortages, damages, and receiving issues.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with suppliers, Purchasing, Receiving, and Quality teams.
  • Monitor inventory transactions related to damaged, returned, or non-conforming materials and ensure proper disposition and documentation.


Safety and Compliance
  • Participate in safety programs, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities.
  • Report unsafe acts, conditions, near misses, and incidents in accordance with company policies.
  • Support the achievement of company safety objectives and compliance requirements.


Records Management and Reporting
Maintain import records and documentation in compliance with company and regulatory retention requirements.

Prepare reports, analyze logistics data, and provide recommendations for process improvements.

Perform other import logistics and supply chain-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in any four-year course, preferably BS Customs Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in importation, import logistics, customs clearance, or freight operations.
