Environmental Specialist

Job Description

Your Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all applicable Philippine environmental laws and regulations, including PD 1586, RA 6969, RA 8749, RA 9003, RA 9275, and other DENR, EMB, and LLDA requirements.
• Secure, maintain, and renew all required environmental permits, registrations, licenses, and regulatory approvals.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and performance of pollution control and environmental management facilities, including wastewater treatment systems, air pollution control equipment, hazardous waste storage, and solid waste management facilities.
• Monitor environmental performance to ensure compliance with emission, effluent, waste management, and chemical handling standards.
• Prepare and submit all required regulatory reports, including Self-Monitoring Reports (SMR), Compliance Monitoring Reports (CMR), hazardous waste documentation, and other statutory submissions.
• Manage hazardous waste, chemical, and solid waste programs, ensuring proper storage, transport, treatment, disposal, and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct environmental inspections, monitoring, risk assessments, and incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventive actions where necessary.
• Lead the identification and evaluation of environmental aspects and impacts, supporting the development and implementation of Environmental Management Plans and contingency plans.
• Coordinate with DENR, EMB, LLDA, local government agencies, and other regulatory bodies during inspections, audits, technical meetings, and compliance activities.
• Investigate and report environmental incidents, permit exceedances, spills, or equipment failures within required regulatory timelines.
• Promote environmental awareness and compliance through employee training, internal communications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System implementation, internal audits, and sustainability initiatives where applicable
• Other tasks as assigned by Plant Manager
  
  

Your Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of Philippine environmental regulations, including DENR requirements, environmental permitting, and regulatory reporting (e.g., ECC, SMR, CMR, hazardous waste management).
• Accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO) or eligible to obtain accreditation is highly preferred.
• Experience managing environmental management systems, pollution control facilities, and regulatory audits, with knowledge of ISO 14001 considered an advantage.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across functions.
