Application Developer Dev 2 -Database Administrator

Role Overview

The Application Developer (Dev 2) is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing secure, scalable, and reliable database solutions that support business operations and technology initiatives. The role ensures database performance, availability, and stability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality database services.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain database environments in accordance with established database architecture standards, security policies, and best practices.
• Manage the administration and optimization of complex database systems, including high-availability, disaster recovery, and cloud-based database solutions where applicable.
• Provide technical guidance and database administration support to junior team members as needed.
• Identify, analyze, and execute all necessary activities related to database maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning.
• Design and establish database monitoring, backup, recovery, and maintenance procedures either independently or as part of a team.
• Create, update, and maintain database architecture, operational, and technical documentation.
• Work within project and operational timelines, proactively communicating risks, issues, and dependencies to project managers and stakeholders.
• Develop and document database testing, validation, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for implementation and operational readiness.
• Assist the Support Team during database deployments, upgrades, migrations, and production roll-out activities.
• Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and availability, implementing proactive measures to prevent service disruptions.
• Troubleshoot database issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to ensure system stability and data integrity.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to support database-related initiatives and optimize overall system performance.
  
  

• Database Administration & Maintenance – Ability to administer, monitor, and maintain database environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, reliability, and data integrity.
• Incident & Problem Management – Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring incidents.
• Database Performance Tuning & Optimization – Ability to analyze and optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, capacity planning, and resource management to meet business and operational requirements.
• Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery Management – Ability to develop, implement, and maintain database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and data protection.
• Communication & Stakeholder Management – Ability to communicate database issues, risks, system health, and technical solutions effectively with business users, project stakeholders, and technical teams.
  
  

• Cloud Database Technologies – Familiarity with cloud-based database platforms such as Microsoft Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or other managed database services.
• Database Automation & Scripting – Ability to develop and utilize scripts and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, SQL scripts, etc.) to streamline database administration, monitoring, and maintenance activities.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery – Familiarity with database replication, clustering, failover mechanisms, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
  
  

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or equivalent.
  
  

• 2+ years of experience in the development field is required
• Good communication skills with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience
• Proven track record of development and implementation of delivery disciplines
• The ability to work with a structured and methodical approach, combined with an enquiring mind
• Ability to build unto the work of other developers coding framework

• Hardworking and results-driven, able to influence the team to perform well with or without minimal supervision with ability to coordinate and work with different stakeholders
  
  

• Hybrid Setup (Once a month Onsite – Taytay or San Mateo)
• Regular Shift (8PM – 5AM) – (Rotational Shift Mondays to Sunday) 2 days Off
