Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and health, regulatory standards, quality management system and NFPA requirements.
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance.
    • Performs sensory inspections of machinery, equipment and components at predetermined scheduled intervals to detect abnormalities such as change in pitch, rattling, cracks, loose bolts and leaks.
    • Performs hands-on inspections like checking tolerances and clearances of machinery, equipment and components using tools such as hand tools, gauges and strobe lights.
    • Checks for worn, defective, broken or otherwise unacceptable components such as filters, sight glasses, packing, seals, bearings and gaskets F-20.01.04 check condition, level and temperature of fluids according to manufacturers’ recommendations.
    • Greases and lubricates components according to site, manufacturers’ or engineers’ specifications.
    • Adjusts tension on components such as belts, chains and tie rods.
    • Records information for future equipment evaluation and eventual repair
  • Performs specialized testing and analysis. These may include vibration analysis, balancing and alignment, NDT and fluid analysis.
    • Rotating and non-rotating equipment faults
    • Vibration, ultrasound, infrared and tribology theory
    • Balancing machines and analyzing equipment
    • Static and dynamic balancing procedures
    • Alignment procedures, types of misalignments such as horizontal, vertical and angular.
  • Commissions mechanical systems and components, and material handling/ process systems.
    • Reviews checklist to ensure that rotational checks and all other procedures have been completed according to engineering and manufacturers’ specifications.
    • Checks safety components such as guards, emergency stops and overrun switches.
    • Start-up and run-in systems and equipment are in predetermined order according to type and design of system.
    • Performs monitoring activities such as packing adjustments and alignments.
    • Re-torques bolts such as anchor, base, flanges, bull gears and pinions after manufacturers recommended run-in period.
    • Confirms alignment, such as hot alignment from steam turbines and hot/cold fluids, of equipment after manufacturers recommended run-in period.
    • Performs baseline readings on preliminary tests such as vibration, fluids, ultrasound and infrared.
  • Commissions hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems.
  • Collaborates with operations team to minimize downtime, facilities failure rate and accident cause to operations shutdown. and improve equipment reliability.
  • Ensures maintain breakdown history records per machine and PM records.
Education & Experience

  • Graduate of Industrial technological course, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering. He or She should be a certified plant mechanic Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) licensed.
  • At least four (4) to five (5) years of work-related experience in an Industrial/Chemical Refinery set-up & have working knowledge on hydrometallurgy and semi-conductors.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Industrial chiller, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC system, welding MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW), etc and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and handle emergency repairs during holidays and Sundays, & etc.
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills and have passion for daily improvement.
  • Shows openness to different and new ways of doing things; modifies his/her preferred way of doing things when appropriate.
  • Focuses on the desired results of his own or his unit’s work, focusing effort on the goals, and meeting or exceeding them; sets appropriate work standards and establishes monitoring.
  • Works effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints drawings and schematic including pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Interprets service and operating manuals, specifications, and technical bulletins.
  • Complies with ANSI/ASME/ASTM standards and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations.
  • Ability to select hand tools required for task to perform such as vibration analyzer, stroboscope, insulation tester, ammeter, tachometer, dye penetrant test, strobe light, fluid analysis, & hydraulic gauge & etc.
    • Mechanical testing and diagnostic tools – ability to interpret readings and fault codes.
Working Conditions

  • This role is 100% onsite and requires immediate response outside regular hours especially during emergency repairs.
  • Schedules may be in regular day shift, night shift, weekends, or on-call hours depending on plant operations.
  • Work areas may include confined spaces (working with tanks and pressure vessels), elevated platforms, or areas with moving machinery (V-blender, Wheelabrator, pulverizer, compressors & chillers, etc.
  • Exposes to high temperatures, noise, vibration, and hazardous substances (HCL, Nitric Acid, Sulfuric Acid, Te & Se, etc.)
  • Uses of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, specialized protective clothing. helmets, safety glasses, and hearing protection is mandatory.
  • Involves standing for long periods, climbing ladders, or working in awkward positions.
  • The work sometimes requires physical stamina and strength to lift equipment and tools.
