Machine Operator

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for operating bevel machines to cut, shape, and finish metal materials based on engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Set up machines, adjust cutting tools, and select appropriate feeds and speeds to achieve accurate bevels and surface finishes.
• Inspect finished products using measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and protractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to ensure operational efficiency.
• Monitor production output and report any defects, inconsistencies, or equipment issues promptly.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Lead and manage assigned tasks within the production line, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Coordinate with supervisors and team members to improve workflow and productivity.
  
  

Education & Experience

• A high school diploma, vocational certificate, or technical training in machining, mechanical technology, or its equivalent.
• At least 1–3 years of relevant work experience in metal fabrication, machining operations, or beveling processes.
• Familiarity with reading technical drawings, blueprints, and using precision measuring instruments is required.
  
  

Skills

• Basic leadership capabilities to assist in guiding team members or coordinating daily machine operations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the process of problem-solving.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for machine operation.
• Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp. to ensure smooth and efficient production flow.
  
  

Working Conditions

• This role is 100% onsite in a manufacturing or production facility.
• Requires standing for extended periods and operating heavy machinery.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and metal particles; appropriate PPE must be worn at all times.
• May require working in shifts, overtime, or weekends depending on production demands.
