Job Description

The position of Senior Payroll Associate is a vital role within the human resources and finance departments, focusing on the administration and management of employee compensation. This role ensures that all payroll transactions are promptly and accurately executed, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and company policies. As a senior team member, you will contribute to process improvements and provide guidance and support to junior staff members. You will be expected to handle complex payroll tasks, reconciliations, and serve as a point of contact for payroll-related queries. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality will ensure the smooth operation of payroll processes within the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly or monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Verify and input data for new hires and terminations promptly and accurately.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries efficiently.
  • Prepare payroll reports and manage year-end preparations and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to streamline payroll processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records and employee data in payroll systems.
  • Provide training and support to junior payroll staff members as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of new payroll software and systems upgrades.
  • Review and improve existing payroll processes for efficiency gains.
  • Conduct audits of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and submit tax reports and deductions in accordance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience in a corporate setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll software and related systems.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and tax regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration.
  • Ability to adapt to changing policies, processes, and technologies.
