Job Description

A Senior Payroll Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of payroll for an organization. This position requires a meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of payroll systems and labor regulations. The Senior Payroll Associate is responsible for managing payroll-related tasks, including calculating and processing wages, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and addressing payroll inquiries from employees. This role necessitates excellent analytical skills, the ability to solve complex payroll issues, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality with sensitive data. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to interact with employees across all levels, and collaborate effectively with the finance and HR departments to align payroll processes with organizational strategies and goals.


Responsibilities

  • Accurately calculate employee salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws, tax laws, and applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll runs as per company schedule.
  • Address and resolve employee queries related to payroll discrepancies and adjustments.
  • Maintain payroll records and process payroll changes, including new hires and terminations.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
  • Manage payroll software and systems, ensuring data integrity and system functionality.
  • Produce payroll reports and provide analysis for management as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual payroll audits and compliance checks.
  • Stay updated with industry standards, payroll trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes by providing payroll data and insights.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing payroll functions required.
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP, SAP, or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state payroll laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex payroll issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information discreetly.
  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise with employees and management effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
