Position Summary:
The Senior IT Engineering Applications Support Analyst is a key member of the global IT Engineering Applications team, responsible for administering, supporting, standardizing, and continuously improving engineering applications across engineering design domains, data management, simulation, and related platforms.
This role serves as the APAC regional engineering applications owner, ensuring engineering applications are reliable, secure, scalable, and standardized, while enabling efficient and effective collaboration across mechanical, electrical, PCB and test engineering teams. The role applies strong access governance and least‑privilege principles to protect engineering data without compromising productivity.
This is an all‑around engineering applications role, supporting a broad ecosystem of engineering tools and contributing to global alignment of engineering application standards and practices.
Responsibilities:
Engineering Applications Platform Ownership
- Provide administration and support for engineering applications across MCAD, ECAD, PDM, simulation, and test domains.
- Act as an APAC regional engineering applications owner, ensuring platforms are reliable, secure, scalable, and standardized, and aligned with global IT and engineering standards.
- Support application lifecycle activities including installation, upgrades, configuration, licensing, and environment standardization across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Support data migration, system enhancements, and platform optimization initiatives as required.
- Provide light administration support for Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), including user access and project setup, aligned with enterprise standards.
Security, Access Control and Governance
- Ensure engineering applications are securely configured, following least‑privilege access and role‑based access control principles.
- Define and maintain access models, permission structures, and governance standards in collaboration with engineering and IT stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data exposure, unauthorized access, and platform misconfiguration while balancing usability and productivity
Engineering Data, Workflow & Process Enablement
- Support engineering workflows across design, data management, manufacturing, and test domains, including activities related to DFx (DFM, DFA, and DFT), BOM management, change control, release processes, and cross‑discipline collaboration.
- Partner with mechanical, electrical, PCB, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective tool configurations and workflows.
- Identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and streamline engineering application workflows using templates, scripts, APIs, and integrations.
License Management & Usage Insights
- Monitor and analyze engineering application license usage across supported platforms.
- Identify utilization trends, constraints, and optimization opportunities to improve availability and cost efficiency.
- Provide data‑driven insights and recommendations to engineering leaders and IT management to support license allocation, renewals, and investment decisions.
- Support vendor discussions and internal planning by providing usage analysis, risk assessment, and impact considerations related to licensing decisions.
Engineering Enablement & User Support
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for engineering application issues.
- Develop and maintain user documentation, standards, and best practices.
- Deliver user training and enablement to improve tool adoption, productivity, and compliance.
Regional & Vendor Collaboration
- Serve as the regional escalation point for engineering applications, collaborating with global IT peers.
- Coordinate with software vendors and third‑party partners on support, implementation, and technical escalations.
- Support software contract reviews, licensing management, and budget planning in collaboration with IT leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree holder or above in Information Technology, Electronics / Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience supporting and administering engineering applications in a complex, multi‑site engineering environment, with demonstrated ownership of platform stability, security, and standardization.
- Hands‑on experience with MCAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and/or ECAD (e.g., Altium, Cadence Allegro) tools and product data management platform (e.g., SolidWorks PDM Professional, Windchill) in a production environment, including administration, configuration, upgrades, and end‑user support.
- Experience supporting multi‑site or regional engineering teams, preferably in an APAC context.
- Experience analyzing engineering application license usage and providing insights to support license allocation, optimization, and investment decisions.
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or APIs for engineering applications (e.g., C#, VB.NET, SQL) is preferred.
- Basic to intermediate experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), including user access and project setup.
- Experience leveraging AI‑enabled features or tools within engineering applications to improve engineering productivity, workflow efficiency, or decision‑making is a plus.
- Experience with simulation, or test tools (e.g., Ansys, Flotherm, LabVIEW, Matlab) is a plus.
- SolidWorks PDM Professional certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of engineering application ecosystems, including MCAD, ECAD, PDM, simulation, and related engineering tools.
- Solid knowledge of engineering design and data management processes, such as BOM management, change control, release workflows, and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with engineering teams, IT peers, and vendors.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and end user training.
- Comfortable working in a regional or global environment, supporting users across locations and time zones.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with remote and globally distributed teams.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives and large‑scale, cross‑functional projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong creative and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and apply innovative approaches to problem solving.
